Indian doctors hold nationwide strike over colleague's rape and murder

Indian doctors dressed in white coats sit outside a hospital demanding justice after the rape and murder of a colleague. The killing of a 31-year-old doctor, whose bloodied body was discovered on August 9 at a state-run hospital in the eastern city of Kolkata, has focused rage at the chronic issue of violence against women.

00:00Our main concern has always been the safety and security of the people of our country.
00:31We are actually posted for our duties for about 36 hours, 24 hours, sometimes culminating to around 48 hours also.
00:42So right now we are doing the protests just to have some assurance from the government that tomorrow if we went to work, that kind of thing won't happen to us.
00:52We just want to be safe while we are doing our duty.
00:54A hospital is the last place where we have to worry about our safety.
