Those who criticise the government should ensure they have their facts straight, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In his address while presenting the Madani Economy report at the closing ceremony of the Southern Zone Madani Rakyat (PMR) Programme 2024 in Johor on Saturday (Aug 17), the Prime Minister said this is especially so when it comes to the recent salary adjustment for civil servants, adding that Bank Negara and the Statistics Department had reported 5.9% economic growth in the second quarter.

00:00This is an opportunity for the people of Johor and Melaka in the South to see for themselves
00:09the boost that has been provided and to assess whether what has been announced has been implemented.
00:16This is our goal, to show the results of the actions that have been taken.
00:23Because if not, there will be an announcement, but people do not know.
00:29If they do not know, then there will be negative views, as if nothing has been done.
00:36Enough is enough, if nothing has been done,
00:40our population cannot reach 5.9% of the population of this year.
00:50And we see that by working together, the government, the private sector, public officials, the people,
00:58the workers, the farmers, the small farmers, the fishermen, all of them
01:04have confidence and are willing to pay.
01:09They are among the people whose growth is the strongest in our region, Alhamdulillah.
01:21I do not mean to mention again the reason why it was announced
01:25but some examples of success.
01:31And the result of this success is that we can take bold steps.
01:36For example, we call it a reform of public services and benefits to public officials.
01:46And yesterday, I announced an increase in the salary system and the best public service allowance in history.
02:02This is because we recognize that there is progress.
02:09We see the progress of public officials.
02:14Therefore, and we emphasize, like what was said by KSN and KPPA yesterday,
02:23we ask that it can still be improved, it can still be improved,
02:30so that when we say that there is no progress in public services,
02:35the villagers do not have to wait for hours to get a pass or appoint an official.
02:43And because of all these guarantees, we can feel happy and confident that this change will continue to increase
02:53and reforms in the public sector will be carried out with such confidence, InsyaAllah.
03:03Moreover, in yesterday's meeting,
03:06I also announced an increase and through our recognition,
03:12the overall income of public officials,
03:17there is a promise,
03:21starting this week,
03:24in each office,
03:26it will be ensured that the public officials enter on time and work seriously to improve their performance.
03:39So I hope the people can assess,
03:43if there is any regional office,
03:45or an association office,
03:48or an agency,
03:50where there is a weakness,
03:52it must immediately report it,
03:54because when we give guarantees,
03:56if there is a weakness,
03:58I have asked KSN and KPPA to take action immediately,
04:02so that the good name of public officials is maintained.
04:13Because in the end, where do we assess?
04:15Not a minister, or a big minister, or a general chief minister,
04:20but the people are waiting,
04:23whether it is JPJ, Immigration, Customs, or Land Office,
04:29they will assess,
04:31if they see, it is the same as before,
04:34they will ask us,
04:36why is the government giving such good guidance,
04:39the work is the same as before,
04:41that's why,
04:43I accept the guarantees,
04:45from the government,
04:46the head of the office,
04:48the public officials,
04:49to guarantee,
04:51a better performance starting next week,
04:54if Allah wills it.
04:55This is the difference,
04:57I have been here,
04:59I have seen,
05:03the progress report,
05:06but I heard it from other places,
05:09I heard some good news yesterday,
05:13Benegara and DOSEM,
05:15the Statistics Department,
05:17announced an economic growth of 5.9%,
05:22then, we announced,
05:24the number of public officials,
05:29which increased,
05:30among 15,
05:32and there is a category,
05:33which increased to 40%,
05:35it is on social media,
05:37where is it?
05:39Learn a little,
05:41read it first,
05:42if you don't understand,
05:44ask first,
05:45there is an app,
05:47where you can ask,
05:48don't be like this,
05:49you want to help the people,
05:50you want to help the public officials,
05:52you become a political opponent,
05:54it is useless,
05:55you can't be like that,
05:58ask the public officials,
06:01I made that statement,
06:03based on,
06:04the calculation,
06:06by the public administration,
06:09and the one that increased,
06:11is the low income,
06:13the high income group,
06:16increased a little,
06:1770%,
06:18the one below,
06:19it didn't reach 2,000,
06:222,000 ringgit per month,
06:25or around 2,500,
06:27so, the increase of them,
06:30which is far higher,
06:32so that the gap is not too wide,
06:36between the high income group and the low income group,
06:40then we expand,
06:42SPM requirements,
06:44TBET,
06:46vocational courses,
06:48equally,
06:50so that they have a chance to work,
06:53all of these changes are done,
06:55but,
06:57the key is,
06:59it is up to the office to explain,
07:03don't be ungrateful,
07:06because the economy is growing,
07:08you are ungrateful,
07:09you are ungrateful,
07:12because the country is safe,
07:13you are ungrateful,
