00:00Under the Expectation Burden If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens,
00:07come to me and I will give you rest.
00:09Matthew 11 verse 28 Expectations
00:14What expectations do your parents have for you?
00:17Your teachers?
00:18Coaches?
00:19Which ones do you have for yourself?
00:23Do you feel like you can't measure up?
00:25Like you can never mess up because if you do, you will be cut off from the relationship
00:30forever?
00:31All of it can feel heavy and impossible some days.
00:35And you may hear that God wants you to be some kind of saint.
00:40Well that isn't happening.
00:41Yes, it can be hard to do the right thing.
00:45But we shouldn't do the right thing for others or to meet their expectations.
00:49We should do the right thing to please God and God alone.
00:53And today's scripture says that he will help you make those good choices.
00:58You don't have to feel the heavy burden of having to be perfect or meet others' expectations.
01:04Jesus offers to take that burden from you and then help you with each decision you make.
01:09You see, it's not always easy being a Christian or walking on a good path.
01:14But it's always worth it because it brings us closer to Jesus and helps us become more
01:19like him.
01:21This week, step out from under any heaviness you feel.
01:25Let Jesus lift it off you.
01:27Pray to him and ask for help to do what's right.
01:30He will help you through it.
01:32Spiritual Fitness Training
01:35As a teenager, you make hundreds of decisions every single day.
01:39Some seem unimportant.
01:41What to wear, what snack to eat, what TV show to watch.
01:46But many are very important and often difficult to make.
01:50Think of some decisions you have to make in the coming days and weeks.
01:55Find some paper or a journal to write them down and then ask God to help reveal to you
01:59the right choice to make.
02:02Spend time in prayer and silence this week just listening, allowing the Holy Spirit to
02:06speak to your heart.
02:08He will always guide you if you let him.
02:11Inspiration
02:12You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.
