Southern Africa's only ski resort struggles with costs

High up in the Kingdom of Lesotho, surrounded by dry and brown slopes, lies southern Africa's only ski resort, Afriski. The slopes primarily made with artificial snow, attract visitors from far and wide, who revel in the unique experience.

00:00I really wanted to ski in Africa, because it's my continent, and I thought to myself,
00:25frankly, to have a ski track in Africa, it's incredible.
00:28So I'm going to do it just once, and I think it will be the only time I'm going to do it.
00:33Exciting and scary. It feels like the first time I learned how to ride a bike or swim.
00:37The first lessons are always hardest, and then once you get into the rhythm of it, it becomes fun.
00:51We don't have any funding. We have to make sure that this business runs itself.
00:56And sometimes that's where the problem comes.
00:59Secondly, the one of the electricity, our electricity is very expensive.
01:04So there are times when we can't make it, paying the bill of that month, because we didn't make enough.
