Prince Harry and Meghan highlight dangers of social media during Colombia visit

On the first day of their visit to Colombia on 15 August, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle meet with Vice President Francia Marquez at a cultural show at the National Center for the Arts and highlight the dangers of online misinformation at the "Responsible Digital Future" panel in Bogota. The couple will be in Colombia until 18 August and will visit Cartagena and Cali for a series of events against discrimination and cyber harassment.

00:28So I look at it through the lens of what my children, our children, are going to adopt
00:33as they get older, and how we can keep them safe.
00:37Because I do believe, all of us agree, despite whatever disparities there are throughout
00:41the world, no one contests the fact that we want to keep our children safe.
00:52One of my biggest worries is that for as long as social media is the way that it is,
00:58we will forever be divided.
01:00Because we're no longer arguing over facts.
01:03We're debating and arguing over misinterpreted information.
01:10We're being misled.
01:11We're misleading each other, and we're being misled at the same time.
01:14Myself and my wife, we believe that information integrity is a fundamental right.
01:22And for as long as people are allowed to spread lies, to abuse, to harass, without
01:30consequence, then social cohesion, as we know it, is completely broken down.
