Tory visa restrictions on international students won't be reversed, Education Secretary says

00:00Should the visa restrictions for foreign students that the last government imposed right at the end of their government

00:06So we haven't really seen the full effects of it yet. Should those be reversed?

00:10We don't intend to change that but what I do say is that

00:15International students who come to our country and study do make a tremendous contribution

00:19I mean he can in economic terms

00:21Into where it comes to the communities where they will come and live Sunderland where I'm a member of Parliament

00:25We have lots of students that come from around the world often as postgraduate students

00:29That study and make a contribution

00:31But it's also a big part of our reach around the world the impact that we can have as a country the business links the

00:37Trading links the opportunities and the bridges that we build between nations

00:41And I think education is just a force for good across our world and we should recognize that and work together as nations

00:47Not what we've seen in recent years
