00:00Gentlemen, this right here is a little too high, so punches right here would be okay.
00:04You're fine right there. You received the instructions in the locker room.
00:08Obey my commands at all times, and protect yourself at all times, okay?
00:12All right? Watch him up.
00:14Back of a U.S. debut for Isidro Curiel.
00:17See the size disparity there.
00:20I don't think he didn't really see much on the tail of the table.
00:22Seen him in real life, man.
00:24Greg Outlaw, very, very big for this weight class.
00:29Very, very excited to be here, making his U.S. debut.
00:34But he's got a long, strong guy in front of him, Greg Outlaw, coming out in that southpaw position.
00:41See Greg Outlaw in the white and silver.
00:44Isidro Curiel from Mexico in the black and gold.
00:49Outlaw came out with a right hook over the top immediately.
00:53Yeah, that size difference didn't seem so apparent at the weigh-in,
00:57but it's glaring here as they're in the ring together.
01:00This is where it matters.
01:02In the ring.
01:04I don't see it.
01:09Sean, I might need to get your glasses in the back.
01:11That's okay. That's okay.
01:13I mean, he came in late and noticed me with a bunch of glasses on.
01:15That's cool. No problem.
01:17Nice overhand right there.
01:19Curiel took a while, surprisingly.
01:21Oh, there's another one.
01:23Right hook from the southpaw stance.
01:26Short, tight, accurate.
01:29I'll tell you what I like about Outlaw.
01:31He uses speed to set up the power.
01:33He's not just holding back, waiting on power.
01:35He's not afraid to look for the right punches and set them up to create the big punch.
01:42He's being patient.
01:44He's got eight rounds in front of him.
01:46He's already landed some big shots here.
01:48Might have been halfway through round number one.
01:50Curiel has won two in a row before that.
01:52A four-year layoff.
01:57Just getting back into boxing.
01:59Trying to get his momentum again as a professional.
02:01Not an easy task in front of him tonight.
02:03Now we've got an orthodox versus southpaw position here.
02:07You see Curiel does not know where to put his feet.
02:09Keeps stepping in between.
02:12You want to get your foot to the outside.
02:14There it is again.
02:16Perfect sample.
02:18Stepping right down the middle instead of stepping to the outside.
02:20Putting himself in poor position.
02:22Outlaw taking advantage of that momentary trip.
02:24Beautiful left hand.
02:26Always notice where Greg Outlaw's front foot.
02:28Always on the outside of his opponent.
02:30That's exactly what you want.
02:36Outlaw's on the outside of his opponent.
02:39Get to your right.
02:47Nice body shot.
02:52Also showing like you said,
02:54he's being patient but also just placing the punches.
02:56He's not overthrowing them.
02:58Exactly like you said.
03:01Let's go.
03:07Curiel's going to have a chance to win.
03:09Gentlemen, do you think it's going to be on the inside?
03:11Because right now outside looks like Outlaw having his way with that lead here.
03:14Watch your feet.
03:16Watch your feet.
03:18It seems like the power and the speed of Greg Outlaw is going to give the Mexican fighter a lot of trouble from the outside.
03:25Another nice right hook over the top.
03:28It's been the money punch so far for Greg Outlaw.
03:32He finished round number one.
03:38The bell rang and that's the only punch he made him miss.
03:41The bell rang.
03:43Come on.
03:51Right away you're going to see that lead hand of Greg Outlaw over the top.
03:56That would have been the money shot all night long because the lead jab of Curiel is just a little too slow.
04:01He landed a good right hand there.
04:03I was going to say I didn't realize he landed two right there.
04:05He ate two just to give one right there.
04:08He landed the bigger shot but definitely took some punches from Curiel.
04:11That's why Curiel didn't see the shot.
04:13Don't stay in the middle because he's going to try to run in there.
04:15Give me some more water.
04:17That was a good round but stay on point.
04:21Come on, please.
04:24Simon, a lot of good coaching is keeping your fighter mentally stable.
04:28Hey, good round. Don't go crazy.
04:30Go back to what you did. Don't get too excited.
04:34Keeping them switched on is really important to make sure that they're staying in the game.
04:38Especially when things get a little too heated.
04:41Don't want to get too excited in there.
04:45Unless you're Sean Porter and you want to be excited.
04:49And then it's showtime.
04:52Don't let him think.
04:58That's the second time now that he's looked to the ref
05:02and Outlaw has just completely jumped on him in that moment.
05:14Curiel just landed a really nice straight right hand
05:16which is a beautiful weapon for an orthodox fighter versus Al Paul.
05:19Very, very straight. Pinched straight down the middle.
05:21Landed really clean on Outlaw.
05:23It was like deceptive speed.
05:25He had some... Find that again.
05:27He just got there.
05:29I like to say there's no fat on that punch.
05:33As our broadcast partner Teddy Atlas is fond of saying, no fat on his punches.
05:38Clean right down the center.
05:40We can see that Outlaw can be hit.
05:44He's a tall, long guy.
05:46Those guys generally don't go underneath punches.
05:48He doesn't have a lot of tick-tock, that side-to-side movement.
05:52And flat-footed, not really using his feet as well.
05:55He's trying to be a puncher, heavy on that front foot.
05:57There's going to be moments there for Curiel.
06:02Nice counter left hand.
06:04Curiel's taking some really clean shots and just walks right through him.
06:08That's part of what his corner told him in between rounds.
06:11Catch this guy in the middle. Catch him on the way in.
06:14Greg Outlaw certainly looking to that advice.
06:16That's exactly what you have to do with a guy who's got that kind of length advantage on you.
06:20You've got to punch with him.
06:22Sean, you know all about that.
06:24Well, I was going to say the other side of that is Curiel's using his feet this round.
06:28He's moving, he's staying on the outside.
06:30It does, it keeps you safe, but also when your opponent opens up,
06:34then you have to be careful.
06:36When your opponent opens up, then you have opportunities,
06:39but he's not fast enough, it doesn't seem, to take those opportunities.
06:43At the top, he mentioned how excited Curiel was to be fighting here in the States.
06:47You could see that exuberance in him.
06:49He's very excited. He's taking these big shots.
06:51It's allowed him to walk through them and say,
06:53Hey, come on, I got enough macho to do this. Let's go.
06:58Outlaw hasn't given him a whole lot to hit.
07:00Very tight with the hands.
07:02Hasn't taken a whole lot of risks.
07:04Nice body shot.
07:06Nice first body shot, I think he's reminded.
07:09Going to Amo with culminations.
07:11Is Greg Outlaw looking to get this one over with?
07:1420 seconds left to go in round number two.
07:18Curiel, for all his toughness, getting overwhelmed now.
07:22Mexicans are always known for being great body punchers,
07:24but listen, good body punchers don't like it to the body either.
07:31Nice short overhand chopping left.
07:35Stop!
07:36Curiel will stay in this fight into round number two.
07:48We see that nice chopping overhand left,
07:50and he goes body, head.
07:52Beautiful combination there from Outlaw.
07:54Good chopping shots at that left hand over and over again.
07:58This is what is next after our undercard, our main event.
08:01Lamont Roach Jr. defending his title against Fergal McCrory.
08:06That's right, in the Super Featherweight Division 24-1-1.
08:10Nine knockouts versus the undefeated Irishman.
08:15We are in round number three of a fight that looks like
08:18it is starting to be taken over by Greg Outlaw.
08:22Fight from here in Bowie, Maryland.
08:2414-2, eight knockouts.
08:27You said it yourself, Chris, his teammates talk about
08:29how hard he can hit.
08:30Forget that knockout percentage, this kid can crack.
08:32Yeah, you can see it.
08:33He's got heavy hands.
08:34He's just a very tough guy in front of Curiel.
08:36Yeah, listen, he's a Mexican warrior.
08:38Like you said, he's excited to be here.
08:40He's got a good record too, 11-3-1 with six KOs.
08:42That's nothing to scoff at.
08:46That's Greg Outlaw in the white and silver.
08:48Ysidro Curiel in the black and gold from Mexico.
08:52I've been waiting to say, when you've got a name like Greg Outlaw,
08:54you don't need a nickname.
08:57As a James Smith, I'm so jealous of people.
09:00I looked everywhere to make sure that was a real name.
09:04I looked everywhere, Greg Outlaw.
09:07That's great.
09:08As a fighter, hooks.
09:10That right hook.
09:12As you said, Chris, it's money.
09:13The whole time, it's just been money in the bank for him.
09:15I don't think it's missed yet.
09:17He just does a really good job of getting it over that lead jab.
09:19I mean, when you're tall and a southpaw, it's a great weapon.
09:22That's like the bread and butter for southpaws,
09:24is that check hook.
09:25He's not really checking it, turning with it,
09:27but he's still able to find it whenever he wants it.
09:29Jim, you know, there's a lot of southpaws who don't have a right hand.
09:32They're so left-hand dominant.
09:34Look out for the left hand.
09:35Look out for the left hand.
09:36When you fight a southpaw with a right hook, you're like,
09:38oh, boy, it's going to be a long night.
09:40It's almost like you fought Manny Pacquiao.
09:42Yeah.
09:43I wish I met him before he found his right hook.
09:49Winky right, and the southpaw had a tremendous right jab.
09:53One of the few.
09:56He was really right-hand dominant.
09:57Oh, my God.
09:59We almost had to catch him just now.
10:01Almost landed right on us.
10:03Right into our commentary position.
10:06Gentlemen, just a beautiful, naked left hand.
10:08Not a lot of setup there.
10:09Right through the center.
10:10Now, Jimmy, you remember before the night started,
10:12I jumped in the ring and I bounced around the ropes?
10:14That's the reason I do that,
10:15is to make sure that people aren't going to fall through onto our desk.
10:18Nobody crushes our monitor here.
10:20The interesting thing, though, you've got to wonder,
10:22was that a balance situation?
10:24Because Carrillo looks like he didn't phase him that punch.
10:27He's been walking through these big shots very impressively.
10:29It might have been a balance situation.
10:31He got caught kind of square on his heels and it pushed him back.
10:35And he's come right back.
10:36Landed some good shots as well.
10:38Sneaky right hands when he wants to.
10:39Goes up nice and straight.
10:42Composed attack so far from Greg Outlaw.
10:45Not going crazy.
10:46Looking for the finish.
10:47Isn't acting as though he has his man hurt.
10:50At least he has eight rounds.
10:51We're only coming up on the end of the third round.
10:53He's been landing some good shots to the head and to the body.
10:58Really hasn't missed anything at this point.
11:00I've got to say, though,
11:01I've been questioning his experience for the last round now
11:05that I was trying to find him.
11:07I've been questioning his experience for the last round now
11:10that I was trying to find some more information on him.
11:12He doesn't really have the fluidity of a lot of fighters,
11:16especially at this weight class that I would expect to see.
11:18And then when you see him,
11:20there's moments where he lands big punches,
11:22but then he doesn't know how to set up the next big punch.
11:24Yeah, the follow-up.
11:25I think there's a lack of experience from Outlaw.
11:30Which ain't a bad thing.
11:31He's putting on for his city.
11:33And he's in front of a tough competitor.
11:37It's always better to learn while you're winning.
11:39So far, that's what Greg Outlaw is doing.
11:44A lot of those good punchers, stiff, strong guys,
11:46they don't have that fluidity, that level change,
11:48that tick-tock, that sliding ability.
11:51And again, no reason to come down just to do a punch
11:53because you've got to be able to put things together
11:55and finish guys when they're hurt.
11:59Here's our punch right here.
12:00Boom.
12:01It's a straight left. It's on the chin.
12:03You know, I think Carell, he wasn't balanced.
12:05He wasn't set when that punch lands,
12:07but it's still a big punch.
12:09Nice little looping motion in that punch, too.
12:12Chris, could have been called a knockdown?
12:14You could argue that only the ropes kept him out.
12:16Potentially, yeah.
12:17But the way that he reacted afterwards,
12:19I would say that since it wasn't called that,
12:21it was a correct call.
12:22Didn't seem hurt.
12:23No.
12:24Listen, if I was the ref,
12:25I would have been running in to get that
12:28because those are moments where, you know,
12:30it's technically a knockdown because it changes the score.
12:34Not that Outlaw's in any jeopardy here
12:37from a point standpoint,
12:38but that does change the dynamic of the score.
12:41The rule is if only the ropes kept you
12:44from getting knocked down, that is a knockdown.
12:47Carell's been complaining about shots behind the head.
12:49I haven't really seen any.
12:51The ref actually just warned Outlaw about it.
12:53And that can happen sometimes.
12:55You keep saying something to a ref
12:56and he lets it, allows it to come into his head
12:59and then he brings it up.
13:00It seemed like he was turning away
13:01from that right hook a little bit,
13:02but the rule is you're not allowed to target
13:04the back of the head.
13:05If you turn away, that is your problem.
13:07I haven't seen anything glaring.
13:09This is the Outlaw that I expected.
13:11More jabs, more like combinations
13:14to set up the big punches.
13:15He's starting to peel off that right hook now, too,
13:17as he lands it.
13:18Ooh, good body.
13:22Nice.
13:23All these D.C. fighters so far tonight,
13:25when you hit the body,
13:26you can just feel it here at ringside.
13:28They are really laying in those body punches.
13:30Bricks.
13:31Throwing bricks.
13:32Throwing the brick hand.
13:33Throwing that brick hand.
13:36Just like that.
13:44Cibelo Cordial from Mexico.
13:46His U.S. debut.
13:47Excited to be here tonight,
13:49but so far physically and tactically outgunned
13:52by the fighter from Bowie, Maryland, Greg Outlaw.
13:56As you said, kind of a hidden gem here in D.C.
13:59Chris, you were talking to the fighter.
14:00A lot of them mentioned Greg Outlaw.
14:02His abilities in the gym.
14:03All the media guys are bringing him up.
14:05Asked if I knew who he was.
14:06Yeah, absolutely I do.
14:09A lot of bunch of people in here starting to fill in.
14:12A lot of local flavor on this card.
14:15Chris, we all know it's no good being the gym monster.
14:17No.
14:18Being the guy, oh, man, he's really good in the gym.
14:19No, you want to go out there
14:20and be that consummate professional as well.
14:22Doing it under the lights is a different thing.
14:24Doing it under the lights is a different thing.
14:26That's actually going to bring me to my next point.
14:27Showtime.
14:28When does being patient hinder you?
14:32Yeah.
14:33Are we approaching that here in this fight?
14:37Yes and no.
14:39We're halfway, almost halfway through it now.
14:43He picked up the hand speed.
14:44He picked up the punch I put this round.
14:47It's right on time.
14:49When you're talking about being patient,
14:50I think he's starting to increase everything.
14:53Don't be patient.

15:02Our championship fight tonight.
15:03It's going to be absolutely outstanding.
15:06Damian Sports Center here in Washington, D.C.
15:09Greg Outlaw, some blood out of the nose.
15:12Nice shot.
15:15You want to talk about combinations.
15:17Here they are and it is over.
15:19Good stopping.
15:20Round number four.
15:22A finish from Greg Outlaw.
15:25See, that's called forcing the stoppage.
15:27Had his man hurt.
15:28That's what he was asking me about.
15:29Forcing the stoppage.
15:31No, it's not.
15:32It's not too.
15:33No, we're good.
15:35Right on time.
15:36Outlaw said, no, we ain't good.
15:39Not getting any more rounds tonight.
15:41Greg Outlaw.
15:42An emphatic performance.
15:44Ninth knockout of his career.
15:48Gentlemen, it's like he put together
15:49everything we were talking about.
15:50Oh, where is combinations?
15:51What kind of speed?
15:52It was all there, right champ?
15:53Yeah, right there.
15:54Great moment right there.
15:56He lands the punch.
15:57He kind of answered everything
15:59right here in this moment.
16:00I questioned his experience.
16:02He saw the punch land.
16:03He knew to go for it.
16:04The question about the patience.
16:06Right there, he said,
16:07now is the time to go.
16:08He answered a lot of questions right there.
16:10One of the reasons I asked about the patience
16:12is we started seeing the blood from the nose.
16:13I was like, listen man,
16:14we don't get paid for overtime.
16:15The more time you spend in a ring with somebody,
16:17you got a dangerous guy.
16:18If you had the opportunity to get him out of there,
16:20get him out of there because he could still get hurt.
16:22Greg Outlaw answered all those questions tonight.
16:24When you talk to a veteran,
16:25which you gentlemen are,
16:26you only have so many fights in you.
16:27No, no, no.
16:28You only have so many rounds in you.
16:29Right?
16:30You can win a lot of fights
16:31that are one rounders.
16:32Yeah.
16:33It's rounds that take it down.
16:34Great point.
16:35Great point.
16:36Let's bring it up to Jim Sorenson.
16:37Make it official.
16:40Ladies and gentlemen,
16:42at two minutes, 38 seconds in round number four,
16:46referee Eric Irizarry calls this fight to a stop
16:49for your winner by technical knockout,
16:53Greg,
16:54Sharpshooter Outlaw!
16:59He may not need the nickname,
17:01the last name Outlaw,
17:02but he was a sharpshooter at the end of that fight.
17:05Very accurate with his punches.
17:07High sin on his skin, huh Chris?
17:08Yeah, I mean,
17:09I've been telling you guys all week about it.
17:11You've been back and forth all week?
17:13I love when they make fun of me.
