00:00Agreement for the recruitment of healthcare workers is one of the signed on the first day of the state visit of the Singaporean President Tharman Sharmugaratnam.

00:14Along with the 55th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Singapore,
00:18where more than 200,000 Filipinos are working and living,
00:22is the three-day state visit of the Singaporean President Tharman Sharmugaratnam.
00:27Along with the Singaporean President is Jane Yumiko Itogi,
00:31who was accompanied by President Bongbong Marcos and First Lady Liza Arneta Marcos.
00:35The bilateral meeting of the two leaders was not ordinary
00:38because after their jump-in discussions on cooperation and strengthening the relationship,
00:43the discussion on the success of the two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo in the past Olympics.
00:49It's a real milestone. It's a real milestone for all of us.
00:53I mean, we shine a bit of the reflected glory of the Philippines.

01:12Tonight, formal agreements were signed for the implementation of regulations
01:16on the recruitment of healthcare workers and their care.
01:19There was also another memorandum on giving incentives to industries
01:23to reduce their carbon footprints and take care of the environment.
01:27Some agreements were made between private companies and NGOs in Singapore
01:32and local governments in the Philippines.
01:35The two leaders mentioned again their equal position in talking about the South China Sea.
01:40As geographical neighbors in Southeast Asia,
01:43the South China Sea and the West Philippine Sea hold great importance to both our countries.
01:48So we look forward to the opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to maintain
01:53and to promote peace, security, and stability in the region,
01:57as well as our strong support for the peaceful resolution of any such disputes.
02:02The South China Sea is an extremely important issue.
02:05Singapore's position, of course, is well known.
02:08We've consistently upheld the rights of all states to freedom of navigation and overflight
02:15and strongly supported the peaceful resolution of disputes
02:20in accordance with international law,
02:23including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, or UNCLOS.
02:29A state banquet was prepared for the Singapore delegation,
02:32which also included some negotiators.
02:34The Singaporean president also led the wreath-laying ceremony at the Rizal Monument.
02:39He will also visit several research institutions here in the Philippines.
