00:00Pigs are now being sold in Davao Occidental due to the African Swine Fever.
00:06It is expected that the 1,000-dose vaccine against ASF will arrive tomorrow.
00:11This is Bernadette Reyes with a report.
00:16One by one, the Bureau of Animal Industry, City Veterinary Department, and the police
00:22have searched the closed van trucks in Edsa, Balintawak, Quezon City.
00:26If there is a load of pigs, they are being inspected to see if they have symptoms of African Swine Fever or ASF.
00:33Sixty pigs were locked up in Tandang Sorat due to the lack of relevant documents.
00:39The Department of Agriculture set up inspection sites in various places in Metro Manila and Karating Province
00:46to prevent the increase of ASF cases.
00:50There are four inspection sites in Quezon City,
00:53including Laloman, which is considered the legend capital of the Philippines.
00:57There is also one in Valenzuela.
01:00This inspection site in Malanday, Valenzuela is the last control point here in Metro Manila
01:06before the pigs can be transported to nearby provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga, and Tarlac
01:11where the widespread repopulation is taking place now.
01:15There is also an inspection site in Santo Tomas, Batangas, Alfonso Cavite, and Calamba, Laguna.
01:21As of August 1, 22 provinces in the country have cases of ASF according to the Bureau of Animal Industry.
01:29In Davao Occidental, it is only P1,000 if some pigs are sold after ASF can reach three barangays there.
01:38Here in Metro Manila, some buyers are also avoiding pigs.
01:43We are waiting for the fish first.
01:45Later, the ones being sold now are already infected.
01:50Tomorrow, the donation of 2,000 doses of vaccine against ASF will arrive.
01:55Vaccination will start on Tuesday.
01:57It's not that alarming because the vaccine is on the way.
02:01So hopefully, we can contain this.
