00:00Good news for our motorists,
00:03they can now cross the southbound lane of the EDSA Kamuning Flyover.
00:07It has been reopened to all types of vehicles after completing 3 months.
00:13This is the story of Ryan Leziguez.
00:18Edward is resting after the Kamuning Flyover was reopened.
00:22It has been closed for a few months to be repaired.
00:26He says he crosses the EDSA everyday,
00:28that's why he feels the constant traffic,
00:31especially during rush hour due to the temporary closure of Tulay.
00:35He said, the 30 minutes added to his trip is not a joke.
00:39He said he's already spending on gas,
00:41there's even a bonus sermon from his boss if he's late for work.
00:46Due to the closure of the flyover,
00:48the traffic is constant during peak hours,
00:51which starts in the area of South Borromeo in Quezon City.
00:55This is where the one-and-a-half lane starts,
00:57which was closed by the MMDA until the Kamuning Flyover.
01:01Aside from the ongoing traffic jam,
01:04the traffic lights in the area of Timug Avenue are being saved.
01:09It's a huge hassle,
01:11because the roads outside the EDSA are being built up,
01:17the alternative routes that they're opening.
01:22Edward's Calvary in the Kamuning Flyover was closed a while ago.
01:26It was opened to the motorists after the three-month closure.
01:30It's great, sir, because we used to go around the other side,
01:34but now, it's too far.
01:36Now, you can go outside Borromeo to the EDSA.
01:40It used to be too far to go around,
01:42and there's no more build-up.
01:44After a few months of closure,
01:46the Kamuning Flyover will be opened to the motorists again tomorrow.
01:49It's two months earlier than the original target date,
01:53which is in the month of October.
01:55This year, the Kamuning Flyover will be closed to the motorists
01:59so that it can be retrofitted.
02:02Before 6 a.m. earlier,
02:04the MMDA closed the Kamuning Footbridge.
02:09They also removed the concrete and orange barriers
02:12that serve as a traffic guide for the motorists.
02:15The DPWH said that the construction of the Deckslab
02:19or the place where the vehicles pass through
02:22is now finished so that it can be opened to the motorists.
02:25The heavy rainfall did not affect their work
02:29so that the construction of the bridge was also fast.
02:33Now, at 6 a.m., we will open this bridge
02:38so that our countrymen can pass through.
02:41This shows that with the cooperation of everyone,
02:45with the help of the government agencies,
02:48we will be able to implement these projects
02:52that will give security to our countrymen.
02:57But the repair that is being done under the flyover
03:02will not be finished until March 2025.
03:05Despite this, the MMDA and DPWH
03:09were able to pass through the flyover.
03:11Actually, our accomplishment is already 30%.
03:15We will be able to do more under the flyover.
03:18The installation of carbon fiber sheets is already done.
03:22Now, we will install chain-type restrainers
03:26to make sure that during a strong earthquake,
03:30the substructure and superstructure of this flyover
03:34will not be separated.
03:37This month of May, the 32-year-old bridge was temporarily closed
03:41to be under retrofitting.
03:43The purpose is to strengthen the bridge
03:46to avoid a strong earthquake
03:48when the big one or strong earthquake hits.
03:51The Magallanes flyover was also started under repair.
03:55But this did not affect the motorists
03:58because it was only closed at night.
04:01We are appealing to our countrymen
04:04to be patient.
04:05This is for your own safety.
04:08And for the safety of everyone.
04:10It is also an inconvenience
04:12because if there is no earthquake,
04:14our roads are not damaged,
04:16and everything is fine,
04:17the trip will be faster.
