00:07The French forward, 25, was barely involved during the first period as Real struggled

00:12to find their rhythm against Gian Piero Gasparini's well-drilled side.

00:16However, Real were transformed after the break and Federico Valverde tapped in Vinicius Junior's

00:21pass to open the scoring.

00:24As Atlanta began to fade Mbappe doubled Real's lead, accelerating onto Jude Bellingham's

00:28pass before dispatching an effort into the top corner.

00:32Atlanta had started the contest as the brighter team with Martin Darun's effort ricocheting

00:36off Eder Militao and striking the Real crossbar.

00:40And with Mbappe operating in a central role in Bellingham deeper in midfield, Rodrigo's

00:45effort on the stroke of halftime, which hit the Atlanta bar, was the best Real had to

00:49offer.

00:50However, Carlo Ancelotti's side went through the gears after the interval and by the time

00:54Mbappe was withdrawn late on, last season's Champions League winners looked comfortable

00:58winners against the Europa League holders.

02:03through on goal again, with goalkeeper Juan Musso coming to Atlanta's rescue.

02:07Given Real still have the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba to return from injury,

02:12and used substitute Enric waiting in the wings and many of their stars having trained together

02:16just five times before this performance, it will have sent out an ominous notice to

02:20their domestic and European rivals.
