00:00An artwork appearing on the shutters of London Zoo has been confirmed as the latest and final
00:04image in Banksy's surprise animal art trail across the capital. It shows a gorilla lifting
00:10the shutter to release a sea lion and birds, while other animals appear to look on from the inside.
00:16It is the ninth Banksy to appear in as many days in London and follows images that have
00:21popped up each morning since the 5th of August of a goat, elephants, monkeys, a wolf, pelicans,
00:27a cat, piranhas and a rhinoceros. A London Zoo spokesperson said it was
00:32absolutely brilliant and said the work would be preserved.
00:36Daniel Simmons, London Zoo's animal operations manager, said,
00:41Banksy has become part of the London scene and it's really nice to share his iconic status with,
00:46ultimately, one of the most iconic zoos in the entire world.
00:51We're quite honoured he's chosen to use our front shutters this morning to put
00:55one of his incredible artworks. I think it's absolutely brilliant," he told BBC News.
01:02He said staff had no idea Banksy was planning the work at this location.
01:07That's part of the amazing enigma of Banksy and that's why it's so exciting
01:10to come in this morning, Mr Simmons added.
