00:00Buying a new home is one of the most important investments of our lives, meaning we need
00:07to be vigilant when inspecting properties.
00:10And that's why tech company Tobii has developed these, glasses that track where your eyes
00:14are looking while you look over a potential new home.
00:18This is property site Zoopla's Daniel Copley.
00:20According to him, many homebuyers focus on more superficial things during home walkthroughs.
00:25Things like art on the walls, furniture, or even the contents of the fridge.
00:28But what they really need to be doing is looking at things like the brickwork, looking for
00:33signs of condensation or damp, the chimney, the boiler, the electrics, maybe even the
00:39wifi signal.
00:41There's so much to take in in the viewing, it's really important to spend your time on
00:45each separate element.
00:46That's where these glasses come in, tracking your eyes during an inspection and revealing
00:50your blind spots.
00:52Research reveals that homebuyers often neglect to check basements, roofs, and attics, despite
00:56those being relative problem sites.
00:58These eye-tracking glasses have ultimately revealed that buyers also overlook extremely
01:02obvious things, like ceilings, flooring, radiators, and walls as well.
01:07With the trial outlining that structural elements only attract 38% of homebuyers' attention.
01:12Meanwhile, cosmetic features and issues attract a more substantial 54%.
