00:00Hi everybody, Sean Williamson here, formerly Barry from EastEnders, formerly Barry from
00:06Ricky Gervais's Extras, and I'll be Barry in anything anyone's willing to pay me to
00:10be Barry in, but then you know that nonsense. I'm afraid I've got some very bad news
00:15tonight. There are two children's centres in Kent, Millmead in Margate and Seashells
00:20in Sheerness, that are at risk of having their funds withdrawn by the KCC. Now these places
00:27do an amazing work for the local community. I mean Millmead alone has a 65 place nursery,
00:33all sorts of things going on down there, and obviously with that and job losses it would
00:36be absolutely awful. I mean it is the loss of a vital community hub. One person called
00:40it the heartbeat of the community, so we're very keen that the KCC don't withdraw their
00:46funds. Now there is an online consultation until the 22nd of September 2024 where you
00:53can have your say to the KCC about this decision. Obviously if you've never heard of them,
00:58look up Millmead, look up Seashells, they do brilliant work. We know that councils have
01:02to cut funds every now and again, but to cut children's services in what are basically
01:05poor areas, I don't think so personally. But have a look, see what you think, and if you
01:10agree with me and many other people. There is an online consultation period like I said
01:15to the 22nd of September. I'm going to unashamedly read this. If you Google letstalk.kent.gov.uk
01:24slash family hub services Seashells and Millmead. Okay, I'll say it again, letstalk.kent.gov.uk
01:34slash family hub services Seashells and Millmead. That's until the 22nd of September. Please
01:41have your say and hopefully we can keep these places open for these local communities. Thank
01:46you for your time. Cheers.
