00:00Good morning, my name is Ivy Carmichael. I'm the secretary of the Friends of Eitnill Park
00:07and about six years ago I took it upon myself to start walking around the park to pick up
00:13litter. From that another friend joined me and in the six years we've managed to swell
00:20our numbers up to six ladies and we call ourselves the Eitnill Grok Grabbers. On an average every
00:25week we fill between eight and ten bags of rubbish just picked up off the streets, discarded
00:31cans, plastic, that sort of thing. We work closely with our borough councillors, our
00:37ward councillors and if we come across fly tipping we take a photo, we let them know.
00:43We also use that new app that Love Our Streets which is marvellous. You take a photo, you
00:51click onto the app, it automatically locates where you are, you upload the photo and they
00:57come and pick up the fly tipping. It's marvellous. Now apart from just Eitnill, there's now
01:04a couple that work the Eitnill Park Lane area and recently formed, Councillor John Harbour
01:10in Paddyham, he's got a group together and they go out litter picking every week as well.
01:15It's something that's really catching on but we need the local residents of the borough
01:21to do more. Take a pride in where you live, it's your town. So what I would say is it's
01:27your town, it's a beautiful town, not just the parks, the areas where you live, look
01:33after where you live, pick up your litter, take it on, don't just discard it and teach
01:38that to the children so as they grow older they teach it to their children and this way
01:44they have a beautiful town that they can be really proud of.
