00:00Rachel, what more can you tell us? We have had an update in the past few

00:05minutes from the Metropolitan Police and I am glad to say it is broadly

00:09good news or as good as it can be at a crime scene like this. They have

00:13told us the 11-year-old girl will require hospital treatment but her

00:16injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. That is the first

00:19update really. We have had us to higher condition and the second

00:23victim, who we know was a 34-year-old woman, they are saying

00:26suffered more minor injuries. That is a positive development coming from

00:32the Metropolitan Police. They have also told us in the last few moments

00:35that what happened here earlier this morning is not believed at this

00:39stage to be terror-related. That does not take away from the very real

00:43sense of terror and horror that would have been felt in one of the

00:47busiest parts of central London on one of the hottest days of the year.

00:51This area packed with tourists. It still is around me here. You will be

00:54able to see many hundreds of people filling Leicester Square. It was

00:58here earlier this morning where this attack took place. Police saying a

01:02man has been arrested and is in custody. He is thought to be the

01:05only suspect. We have been speaking to a few witnesses who were here at

01:09the time in the late morning describing how a man attacked the

01:14woman first, this 34-year-old woman, and then seemed to have got the

01:17young girl. We are talking about an 11-year-old here in what was

01:20described to Sky News as a headlock before stabbing her repeatedly.

01:25Absolutely horrifying scenes. We have been told two people who worked in

01:29the area or who were here in the area at the time managed to get this

01:32individual down on the ground and restrain him until the police were

01:36able to arrive. The square we know in the surrounding area, 2.5 million

01:41visitors every single week. This is the area where we have got shops.

01:44We are in the heart of Soho theatre land. This is a really popular area.

01:48We don't know any more about this 11-year-old girl or the 34-year-old

01:51woman. We know they were rushed to a major trauma centre and both of

01:55their injuries are believed to be minor or not life-threatening. You

01:59will be able to see the cordon still in place, police guarding. Quite a

02:03small area considering what happened here but there is still a large

02:05part of the square cordoned off. We had a statement earlier from London

02:09Ambulance Service. They were called here at 11.36 in the morning to

02:14report of a stabbing at Leicester Square. They sent resources to the

02:19scene including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic and an

02:22incident response officer. They dispatched members of their tactical

02:26response unit as well. They treated a child and an adult at the scene and

02:30then took them to a major trauma centre. As I have said already, one

02:33man has been arrested. Police say they believe he is the only suspect

02:37they are looking for at the moment and crucially this is not currently

02:40thought to be terror-related.
