00:07:03But it was good that Anthony Davis is in there. I think he had four blocks. It's starting center. We he had trouble defending

00:54:47That's just being able to fight through whatever is ailing you whether it's a situation or how you're feeling
00:54:53but being able to push through anything to
00:54:56Get whatever the goal is accomplished, right whether that's winning a football game having a good play
00:55:02You know rallying for the next night out whatever it is, you know, I have a little grit separating your shoulder
00:55:07Yeah coming down the field do that clip. You are a gritty quarterback. You've gone through a time
00:55:13You got hit a million times. You're tough as hell
00:55:15Do you ever watch that clip of you famously separating your shoulder and then being like hey come out and you're like no
00:55:21I'm not fucking coming out. Do you watch that and be like man I am tough
00:55:25No, I usually I think about that clip or I see that clip and I just start wincing again
00:55:30But no, it's a it's a cool thing that I got lucky to luckily to have been mic'd up
00:55:35You know by NFL films for that moment
00:55:38Otherwise, everybody's just calling me an idiot get back up. Let's go you wuss but it was it was kind of a cool moment

00:56:53Yeah, do you ever feel like you don't get enough credit for doing the no-look passes?
00:56:57Uh, I don't know. I don't think about it too much to be honest as far as like credit goes, you know
00:57:03I know that they're fun when they when they work. They're kind of shitty when they don't but
00:57:08It is it's part of it. You know, I think
00:57:11Defenses are so good these days. These guys are so good at reading what we're doing with our eyes
00:57:14So I'm just trying to take advantage any little way I can how long have you been doing that?
00:57:17Is that something that's just more of a recent thing that we're noticing because there's more camera angles everywhere
00:57:22Or were you doing that like way back in the day? Um, you know, I think it's probably you know
00:57:28Been publicized a little bit more recently, but I was having to do that probably back in the day with Calvin
00:57:32You know everybody in the building I was trying to throw him the ball
00:57:35so I had to find different ways to make it look like I wasn't throwing on the ball and try to move underneath coverage to
00:57:40throw it to him, but
00:57:41Yeah, I mean it's definitely gotten more, you know
00:57:44Publicity I guess recently but
00:57:46You know, I had to do that with with Megatron just trying to get him the ball
00:57:49Yeah, when he when he retired, how how often would you call and be like, can you just maybe just just one more game?
00:57:57No, it was you know what like that's one of those
00:58:00He was such a special player such like a generational player and such a great teammate that I
00:58:05Was I was genuinely just so happy for him that he was walking away when he wanted to walk away
00:58:09He was an all-time great. We all knew it
00:58:11It was unbelievable to get the chance and the opportunity to play with him as a young player
00:58:15But I was so happy for him and I'm still so happy for all his success. But you know
00:58:20Yes, our team was better when he was out there
00:58:22There's no question about that
00:58:23But I was happy for his career and his ability to walk away when he wanted to which I think is such a cool thing
00:58:28Do you have a favorite throw ever?
00:58:31No, probably not I mean there's gonna be at least one or two that are up there
00:58:35There's a couple good ones that I can remember that were kind of fun and meaningful
00:58:39In the Dallas game
00:58:42Back in the day at Detroit big comeback late in the game that last two-minute drive
00:58:46I end up hitting a rail shot to Chris Durham who was my college roommate
00:58:50You know played a few leagues a few years in the league with me and hit him on a long ball down the left side
00:58:56Into like a two Tampa coverage, which was a cool shot
00:58:59in London
00:59:01against the Falcons
00:59:04We were down big and I think it was the touchdown I think that got me the
00:59:10Career Lions TD mark passing TD mark. I threw one to Golden Tate. That was just a launch. That was a good one
00:59:19Do you know when it's like when you're throwing like a deep ball? Yeah, you know the second you release you're like damn that
00:59:24I fucking that's a good I threw the hell out. That's a good one. Yeah, no doubt
00:59:28Yeah, well, that was kind of a weird when they were like, hey
00:59:30Hey every once in a while, they would just kind of rush three drop eight and I just told GT
00:59:34I was like, hey, man, just keep running. Yeah, and it was one of those I kind of bought a little bit of time
00:59:38It was third and crazy long might have been 20 something like that and hit a long touchdown
00:59:42similar to the one I hit Cooper in
00:59:45Tampa and the division around right like third and 19. They're like, oh, they're just gonna check it down and that's when you can kind of
00:59:50Yeah for the dagger every once in a while now, you're gonna throw a couple picks doing that too
00:59:54But some some touchdowns that get you back in a game or do something big. So yeah that one against Tampa was sick
01:00:00We also have a co-worker who's the most annoying person in the world is a diehard Bucs fan
01:00:04Literally snatched the soul out of his body. I love that. That was that was a crazy crazy
01:00:09I mean and honestly the the deep ball to Cooper in that game to put us in field ranges like yeah as far as a full
01:00:15Play, I mean the situation the whole thing. That was a really really special weird question for you. Yes
01:00:21First time you ever checked your Amex points. How many did you have?
01:00:24This might have been a question from a weirder guy Dan Orlovsky. Oh gosh. I don't know
01:00:30Orlovsky did I tell him it's I don't know. Yeah, he's just said that I said
01:00:34It's a lot of points. I've never used any let's put it that way. I've never you ever use any I don't know
01:00:38I'm kind of at the point now where I'm like, I don't know if I will so our boss Dave
01:00:42He has 60 million points and he said he will never use them. I don't have that many but
01:00:48So you'll never use I have a lot. Yeah, I have a lot of points and you're never gonna use but I don't know
01:00:53I don't think so. Wow. What I love that. What if somebody like wants your points?
01:00:56Like yeah, I mean we could talk about it afterwards if that's all your points
01:01:00I I don't want to say like I I didn't I'm a Bears fan
01:01:04So I obviously the Lions and Bears are playing but I always was like I respect the fuck out of Stafford
01:01:09I had to take that you're gonna be a Hall of Famer in 2018 and people laughed at me
01:01:12I appreciate that. That sounds like it should be worth a few
01:01:16Have you thought of that though like you are your max points? No, well Amex points
01:01:21But yes also Hall of Fame your career has been phenomenal
01:01:24You are and I my point at the time was look at his longevity
01:01:27If he has a deep playoff run obviously win a Super Bowl
01:01:30He's gonna be right there
01:01:31And if you look right now three to four if you play three or four more years
01:01:35You're gonna be top five passing yards top ten touchdowns
01:01:39Have you had a second to look back and be like damn like I'm stacking it up here
01:01:42Uh, yeah, I mean, I think I definitely every year that I play now
01:01:46I just appreciate so much and I think back on I mean we were just talking about, you know
01:01:49Plays from my rookie year and it's like man. That was a long long time ago
01:01:52I walk into a locker room with guys that were six seven eight nine years old when I first came into the league which is
01:01:57Kind of crazy to think about
01:01:59But I definitely appreciate my opportunities and appreciate this game. I mean, it's given me a ton
01:02:03I hope I got three or four more left in me
01:02:06We'll see every year is a new year
01:02:08But I do feel good and and as far as the history books and all that kind of stuff
01:02:13I have so much respect for this game
01:02:14Like I was the kid that grew up watching
01:02:17NFL films watching Steve Sable and those guys voiceover stuff and like I was all in on Johnny
01:02:22Unitas and slinging Sammy ball and all the guys, right?
01:02:24so I have a ton of respect for this game and and
01:02:27just being anywhere near guys like that in that kind of conversation is incredibly humbling and
01:02:33something that
01:02:34You know, I don't think about on a day-to-day basis, but when it comes up man, it's a it's a ton of appreciation for me

01:06:39Going back to last year's playoffs. How how tough was it to go back to Detroit?
01:06:44And like I know obviously you have that history. You're you're all your
01:06:48Daughters were born there. Was it a moment where it's like man
01:06:51This is gonna be difficult, even though we got to go play a game like it's there's just more energy to it
01:06:56Yeah, definitely
01:06:57It definitely was I'm not I would be not human if I wasn't feeling some of those emotions even like the week of practice
01:07:03thinking about it, you know and talking to people that
01:07:06You know meant a lot to me in my life and in my career
01:07:09That still live in Detroit or a big part of the community there. So it definitely was
01:07:14You know kind of it meant a lot it was tough and then when I walked into the stadium
01:07:18I definitely felt it. But once the ball was that man, it was time to go. I was just trying to
01:07:23Try to throw for as many yards
01:07:25I possibly could throw score as many touchdowns and beat the hell out of him
01:07:28It didn't go down that way, but that's all I was trying to do. Don't worry

01:07:41Were you surprised at the the welcome they got in Detroit? No, honestly, I was

01:07:57So they're gonna be jazzed up for whatever and the fact that it was me. I mean and our team
01:08:02I'm sure it was even more so that was honestly one of the best atmospheres
01:08:05I've ever played a football game in. Sean and I talk about all the time and it was incredibly loud
01:08:09It was we came up for warm-ups and there was not an empty seat. Yeah. Yeah, and I mean it was
01:08:15Go time from the the second we first stepped out of the tunnel. So it was it was a lot of fun
01:08:20Yeah, great game. Were you rooting for him after they won?
01:08:23No, I'm not rooting for anybody at that point

01:08:25I have a couple teammates that I wanted to like ex-teammates that I really wanted to see play well and they did

01:08:50It's probably gonna take does it take a little bit of the sting out of losing the playoffs?
01:08:53I think it's almost the opposite and the fact that like I know what that feels like now
01:08:57You know, I've got to I've got the losing in the first round. I got that one locked up

01:09:02Only gotten one taste at the Super Bowl and I'm like man, I want to do that
01:09:05And then when you get those opportunities
01:09:07I've had so many years where we didn't have that opportunity at all to play in the playoffs that when you get

01:14:45That was something that we kind of knew going into camp that I was gonna do but no
01:14:49I mean it is, you know late July every year you just
01:14:53you know buckle your chin strap and get ready for you know, six eight month grind and and
01:14:58It's this is the start of it
01:15:00I know training camp has changed so much when I first got in the league
01:15:02I was part of the old CBA. I mean we were going to three days full pads
01:15:05I mean just beating each other up for weeks on weeks and it's definitely player more in more player friendly now
01:15:13But I also think it's just a better way to do it. You know, I think we're getting better work out of it
