00:00Best known as a DJ and dancer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and So You Think You Can Dance,
00:06Stephen Twitch Boss took his own life in December 2022.
00:11This is how his widow, fellow dancer Alison Holker, has coped with the tragedy.
00:16On December 10, 2022, just three days before Boss' death, Holker shared a reel of photos
00:22from her and Boss' wedding on Instagram.
00:25The couple was celebrating their ninth wedding anniversary.
00:28Holker wrote,
00:29"'I couldn't be more grateful to celebrate this perfect, magical day.
00:32Saying yes to Twitch has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.
00:37I feel so blessed and loved.
00:39I love you, baby, and I will never take you or our love for granted.'"
00:43Eleven days later, eight days after Boss' death, she posted a selfie of herself and
00:47Boss, writing,
00:48"'My one and only.
00:50Oh, how my heart aches.
00:52We miss you so much.'"
00:54Several celebrities commented on the post, sending her their love, condolences, and support.
00:59Among them was JoJo Siwa, who worked with Boss on So You Think You Can Dance, who wrote,
01:04"'We all love you so much.'"
01:06Mary Murphy, a judge on the show, told Access,
01:08"'You know, I'm shocked.
01:10With the rest of the world, he was so well-loved.'"
01:13Holker also released a statement to People, which read in part,
01:16"'To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be
01:21felt.
01:22I'm certain there won't be a day that goes by that we won't honor his memory.'"
01:27On January 4th, 2023, Holker and Boss' family gathered to honor his life in a private service.
01:34E! News quoted a source close to the family as saying,
01:37"'A larger celebration of life for the friends Stephen considers family will be put together
01:41in the future.'"
01:42According to Entertainment Tonight, the celebration of life was held on February 11th, 2023, and
01:49was led by the family's pastor, Joe Smith.
01:52All attendees delivered speeches remembering Boss' life, his work, and the way he had impacted
01:57their lives.
01:58Holker and Wesley Fowler, her 14-year-old daughter, spoke.
02:01Comedian, author, and activist Lonnie Love joined the family during the service and later
02:06posted a photo of the program on her Instagram.
02:09According to People, Holker said in her speech,
02:11"'He was the light.
02:12He chose love, grace, and kindness, and he deserves to be celebrated.'"
02:16Holker and her children established the Move With Kindness Foundation to honor the memory
02:21of Boss and advocate for mental health.
02:24People noted that wristbands bearing the foundation's name were given out at the service, and guests
02:29had the opportunity to donate.
02:32Many of Boss' fans posted on social media about the different ways in which he had touched
02:36their lives.
02:37One Reddit user talked about working with Boss and Alison Holker on So You Think You
02:41Can Dance and driving him around for a photo shoot.
02:44"'By the end of the day, I had even told him about a personal project I was making
02:47at the time.
02:48I dropped him off at his home, and a few minutes later I got an email notification
02:52on my phone.
02:53It was a Kickstarter notification for a very generous donation that read, "'Much love
02:57and good luck.'"
02:58It was from Steven."
03:00Another user replied,
03:01"'He really seemed like one of those people who lit up a room and everyone else wanted
03:05to be around.'"
03:06These are some examples of the hundreds of people who posted on different platforms to
03:11honor the way in which Boss lived his life and inspired people.
03:15On February 18th, 2023, a little over two months after Boss' passing, Holker shared
03:20an Instagram video in which she thanked the fans for the support she had received.
03:25"'But you guys have brought so much hope and inspiration to us by sharing stories and memories
03:32and moments.'"
03:33A source close to Holker told People that she's doing as well as could be expected.
03:37The source said,
03:38"'Her first priority is the kids, and she is being the best mom she can be.
03:43The support from friends has been invaluable.'"
03:45The statement came the day after Holker shared her lengthy Instagram video thanking fans.
03:50She also discussed that things were going to feel different, but she hoped to continue
03:54to bring joy to people.
03:55"'I hope that we can remember the feeling that he gave us and remember that we can still
04:00move from there.
04:01We can still move and choose love.'"
04:04A month earlier, Holker posted a reel honoring her husband, remembering Boss for who he was
04:09and what he brought to the world.
04:11She wrote,
04:12"'We will forever remember you as the true beacon of light that you were, and we will
04:15continue to cast your light and love throughout the world.'"
04:19When Boss passed away, he did so without a will, which meant getting his estate in order
04:24was a complicated process.
04:26According to People, Holker had to file a motion called a spousal property petition
04:31with the Superior Court of California to claim half of their joint estate.
04:35The Los Angeles Times reported that Holker had to provide documentation proving that
04:39she was indeed Boss' wife and that he hadn't left a written will.
04:43This petition will confirm and determine the property belongs and should be attributed
04:47to Holker.
04:48The estate she is filing for includes the investment account from his production company,
04:53royalties for any work he has done, and half of their community property.
04:58When Boss met Holker in 2010, she had a daughter from a previous relationship, Wesley.
05:03The couple married in 2013, and shortly after their wedding, Boss adopted Wesley.
05:08Boss and Holker later had two more children, Maddox and Ziya.
05:12Until Boss' passing, Wesley was pretty active on social media, particularly her TikTok.
05:18In some of her videos, followers were able to see her parents at home or on a family
05:22outing, as well as her younger siblings.
05:25However, after the death of Boss, she took a break from posting on social media.
05:29The last video she posted for some time was the day her father died, in which she was
05:34singing along to the song, Kill Bill, by SZA.
05:37A little over two months later, on February 20th, 2023, she posted another TikTok video
05:43set to the song, Surf, by Mac Miller.
05:45She can be seen holding her phone with a photo of herself with Boss.
05:49The caption reads,
05:50"'I miss you.'"
05:51Her mother was one of the first to comment, saying,
05:53"'I love you baby girl, always and forever.'"
