00:19According to NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the illicit drugs were billed to be shipped
00:25to United States of America, United Kingdom, UK and Canada.
00:30Femi Babafemi in a news statement on Sunday, said the interception was based on intelligent
00:36information received by the operatives of the law enforcement agency.
00:41Multi-billion naira worth of cocaine concealed in heavy-duty automobile pivot shafts and
00:45Danyan Fabric, Kente, among others have been recovered in the Nationwide Intelligence-led
00:50operation by officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
00:56While 2.32 kilograms of cocaine concealed in Danyan Traditional Kente materials going
01:01to the United Kingdom were intercepted at a courier firm in Lagos on Monday, 5 August
01:072024, 10.494 kilograms of same-classed drug buried in heavy-duty pivot shafts heading
01:13to the United States were recovered at the same logistics company after the NDLEA sniffer
01:18dogs fished out the automobile's spare parts containing the illicit drug, bringing the
01:22total weight of cocaine seized in the two shipments to 12 points at 1.4 kilograms.
01:28In the same vein, five other consignments going to the US, UK and Canada were also intercepted
01:34at the courier firm in Lagos on Friday, 9 August 2024.
01:39They include 517 grams of cocaine in clothing materials, different quantities of pentasucine
01:45injection, promethazine injection and cocodamol pills all heading to the UK as well as 297
01:52pills of tramadol, 225 milligrams going to Canada.
01:57In a different logistics company in Lagos, NDLEA operatives recovered 21 parcels of LALV,
02:03a synthetic strain of cannabis weighing 10 kilograms coming from the US and meant for
02:07delivery in Abuja, Femi Baba Femi stated in the news statement.
02:12Meanwhile, NDLEA has arrested a member of a cocaine trafficking network in Lagos state
02:17while in attempt to transport some quantity of illicit drugs to Anambra state.
02:22Femi Baba Femi said in another intelligence-led operation, NDLEA operatives on Wednesday,
02:287 August arrested a member of a cocaine trafficking network, Obiora Joseph Agudosi, as Alafia
02:35Uwile, Amur or Dauphine area of Lagos while attempting to move 9.00 kilograms of cocaine
02:41to Onitsha, Anambra state.
02:44Two members of another cocaine syndicate based in Inemi and Obatao, Anambra state were also
02:49arrested on Thursday, 8 August in a follow-up operation following the seizure of their consignments
02:55in a Juul transport company bus at Benin, Edo state same day.
02:59While the bus driver, Harrison Lubachu, 44, was arrested at Benin toll gate with a total
03:05of 2.865 kilograms cocaine, Izuchko Arinze, 40, was picked at Inemi town while attempting
03:12to collect his own consignments of 1.74 kilograms cocaine and 514 grams sojourn bicarbonate
03:20with Amichi Okoro, 39, arrested while trying to pick his own 1.117 kilograms cocaine out
03:26of Obatao.
03:27Meanwhile, an DLE operatives at Tincan Seaport Lagos on Wednesday, 7 August intercepted 532
03:35parcels of LALV, a synthetic strain of cannabis weighing 265.25 kilograms in a black Toyota
03:42Sienna bus, which is one of the three vehicles in a container marked MSMU-C029570 coming
03:48from Montreal, Canada.
03:51The seizure was met during 100% joint examination with men of customs, service and other stakeholders.
03:58The following day, Thursday, 8 August, the operatives recorded yet another seizure of
04:0375 parcels of same substance weighing 37.5 kilograms in a container marked FSCU-9274613
04:12that came from Canada.
04:13In Adama-Ouastet, NDLE operatives on Thursday, 8 August, with the support of men of Operation
04:19Farota Sector 3, Mayo Bill were arrested 49-year-old Joseph Peter with 425 compressed blocks of
04:27cannabis sativa weighing 291.200 kilograms in his Toyota Camry Camarth Lagos KSF381HM.
04:37He claimed he was bringing the consignment from Edo State to deliver in Eula, Adama-Ouastet.
04:43While two suspects, Adekunle Sonde Adebayo, 50, and Yahaya Mahmuda, 35, were arrested
04:49at Dada-Tamburawa area of Kanwo on Tuesday, 6 August with 29.5 kilograms cannabis NDLE
04:57operatives in Lagos recovered 1,169 kilograms of the same psychoactive substance from a
05:03bus along Waukeed Road, Ajao on Sunday, 4 August.
05:08No less than 1,230.00 kilograms cannabis was destroyed on three hectares of farmland at
05:15Ikeje Forest, Edimogo Village, Igalamela, Odolu Local Government Area, Kogi State on
05:20Friday, 9 August by NDLEA officers supported by men of the Nigerian Army while the owner,
05:26Dandruma Maji, 40, was arrested.
05:30With the same drive, commands and permissions of the agency across the country continued
05:34their war against drug abuse, WADA, sensitization activities in schools, worship centers, workplaces
05:41and communities among others in the past week.
05:44These include WADA Enlightenment Lecture for Women at Fowewesofuwa Islamic Center, Saki
05:50Ouastet WAD Sensitization Lecture and Inauguration of Community Drug Control Committee at
05:56the Nando Community, Anambra State WADA Advocacy Visit to the Emir of Ilorin, Achara Chahaji
06:03Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Kwara State and WADA Sensitization Lecture to members of Ansarul
06:09Wudin Muslim Society of Nigeria in Ado Ekiti among others.
06:14While commanding the officers and men of the Special Operations Unit, Tincan, Lagos, Edo,
06:20Kano, Kogi and Adamawa commands as well as those of the Directorate of Oppressions and
06:25General Investigations, JILO-GI, for the arrests and seizures, Chairman, Chief Executive
06:31Officer of NDLE, Brigadier General Mohamed Gugamawa, retired, urged them and their compatriots
06:37across the country to continue with their current balanced approach to drug supply reduction
06:42and drug demand reduction efforts.
