00:00Venezuela denounced as before the United Nations a massive cyber attack against the country
00:15as part of a destabilization operation.
00:20In Russia, a fire broke out in the cooling facilities of the Zaporozhye nuclear power
00:24plant following a Ukrainian shelling of the town of Enerkoval.
00:30In Palestine, Israeli occupation forces killed at least two journalists this Sunday, bringing
00:34the total death toll to 168 journalists killed since last October.
00:43Hello and welcome from the south, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televiso Studios in Havana,
00:47Cuba.
00:48We begin with the news.
00:49Venezuela denounced as before the United Nations a massive cyber attack against the country
00:54as part of a destabilization operation.
00:57During the United Nations Convention Against Cybercrime, Venezuela's alternate ambassador
01:01to the UN, Joaquin Perez, said that crimes have been committed through information and
01:05communication technologies aimed at meddling in destabilizing and promoting coup d'etat.
01:09He further pointed out that these so-called cybercrimes are used in a criminal manner
01:14to advance disinformation campaigns.
01:16The diplomat also indicated that Venezuela, in addition to this electoral system, has
01:20also received cyberattacks against the national electricity system and other strategic sectors,
01:25including the oil and gas industry.
01:33Also in Venezuela, the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Carissa Rodriguez, announced
01:37that only 33 of the 38 political parties presented the required electoral material.
01:45In accordance with the referred subpoena, the 38 political parties involved appeared
01:51before the court in a timely manner.
01:5433 of them submitted the required electoral material.
02:02The Cuban government denied on Saturday in an official statement the allegation of overseas
02:06involvement in modifying the results of the presidential elections held in that country
02:10on July 28.
02:11They stated four main points.
02:12First, it is absolutely false that specialists in computer science or any other area would
02:18have traveled from Cuba to Venezuela with the purpose of modifying the results of the
02:21presidential elections in that country.
02:23Second, this unfounded and fabricated accusation by the former high Colombian official Francisco
02:29Santos is not accompanied by evidence because it does not exist.
02:32Third, the promoter of this lie is known for his active participation in misrepresentation
02:37campaigns and for his involvement in several political scandals.
02:40In 2021, he invented that the commander of a Colombian armed guerrilla group, Ivan Marquez,
02:45would be in Cuba, which was flatly denied by reality.
02:48Last, the politically motivated construction of a matrix of lies that attributes to Cuba's
02:53responsibilities in the results achieved by the contenders in the elections in Venezuela
02:57is assumed as the truth by those who traditionally participate in the campaigns of misrepresentations
03:03about Cuba.
03:09Meanwhile in Colombia, 40 of the 98 military personnel held in the community of San Jose
03:14del Guaviare were freed.
03:16The kidnapped soldiers belong to the joint task force OMEGA, which has expressed its
03:21concern and urged the release of the soldiers who have been held captive since last Friday.
03:27The first medical report indicated that the first released prisoners were in good health,
03:31although they were transferred to a battalion for a more exhaustive physical and mental
03:35examination.
03:36The National Army declared that it is working with the Public Prosecutor's Office to secure
03:41the release of the 58 remaining soldiers, at the same time that it holds meetings and
03:46security councils in the area to take action on what happened.
03:53And the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers,
03:57Margaret Sutherland White, warned of inequalities in access to justice in Chile.
04:02On her two-week visit to the country, the rapporteur alerted to the existence of a justice
04:06gap that splits the rich and the poor.
04:08Those legal services provided depend on citizens' social class, economic means and connections.
04:13Likewise, the authority noted that while the wealthy benefit from a system that allows
04:18them to expedite their cases to avoid convictions, the underprivileged find themselves embroiled
04:23in cumbersome procedures and receive harsher sentences.
04:27Sutherland White underscored that this difference is intertwined with discrimination that hinders
04:32the fair existence of communities of indigenous peoples, migrants and Afro-descendants.
04:40And on Saturday, Peruvian justice confirmed the annulment of former President Alberto
04:45Fujimori's indictment for forced sterilizations.
04:48A Peruvian court dismissed the legal case against Fujimori, who between 1990 and 2000
04:53ordered the execution of forced sterilizations of nearly 200,000 poor and indigenous women.
04:58The decision to dismiss this case came one day after the approval of Law 32107, known
05:03as the Amnesty Law, which de facto decreased the prescription of war crimes and crimes
05:09against humanity committed before June 1, 2002.
05:13Experts clarified that the decision does not prohibit the refiling of the indictment, but
05:17only annuls the opening order of the investigation of the case and returns it to the filing stage.

05:47Welcome back.
06:04In Russia, a fire broke out in the cooling facilities of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power
06:08plant following a Ukrainian shelling of the town of Energodar.
06:11The authorities declared that currently all six power units of the power plant are in
06:14a cold shutdown, assuring that there is no threat of a steam explosion or other consequences.
06:19The radiation background around the nuclear power plant and the city of Energodar is reported
06:23as normal.
06:24In this context, specialists from the Ministry of Emergencies are working at the site and
06:28the elimination of fire outbreaks is underway.
06:36In light of these events, Moscow criticizes IAEA's lack of reaction after the Ukrainian
06:41attack on the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power station.
06:44The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Sakharova, criticized
06:49the lack of reaction of the International Atomic Energy Agency and its head, Rafael
06:52Grossi.
06:53The representative emphasized that after the Kiev regime, under the leadership of the collective
06:58West, destroyed its country, ruined the people of Ukraine and undermined global energy and
07:01food security, it launched nuclear terror on the continent.
07:11Russian Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova today called on the UN to condemn
07:15the terror unleashed by Ukraine with an armed incursion into Kursk province.
07:20Moskalkova assured that thousands of civilians have been affected by the brutal attack of
07:24the Ukrainian armed forces on Kursk province and assures she expects this information to
07:30be included in the upcoming report of the UN Human Rights Office.
07:33Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Kiev of launching a large-scale provocation
07:38and discrimination challenge, particularly against civilian facilities.
07:42On Wednesday, Russian forces halted an offensive by up to a thousand Ukrainian servicemen to
07:46occupy territories in Kursk province.
07:54In Italy, authorities declared a red alert in 27 cities due to soaring temperatures.
08:11The National Weather Service reported that Florence, Rome, Palermo and Sicily are the
08:16cities with the highest heat levels since the beginning of July.
08:20The weather agency added that the high temperatures are due to the so-called African Anti-Cyclone
08:24event, a result of climate change.
08:27The African Anti-Cyclone is expected to last for the next 10 days.
08:39These 21st century anomalous heat waves are unfortunately caused by the anthropogenic
08:44greenhouse effect.
08:45Ocean has made the planet warmer since 1850 by burning fossil fuels more and more.
08:50And then in recent weeks and months we have also had the frequent presence of the African
08:54Anti-Cyclone, which however also seems to be connected to climate change.
08:59Therefore, it is already warmer with the greenhouse effect and then all this warming, also of
09:04the oceans and seas, favours a greater expansion of the Anti-Cyclone from North Africa.
09:09On Sunday, it will even arrive as far as Denmark.
09:12We've travelled, we've been in Florence, we've been in Pisa and now we've come here at the
09:19hottest weekend and I am struggling, I am very struggling.
09:23I also have to have an inhaler because of the heat, etc., with my breathing.
09:33And Greece is battling several wildfires which have caused smoke to cover parts of the capital
09:37Athens in a haze, having warnings for extreme weather conditions for the rest of the week.
09:42I'm a resident of Varnavas.
09:44They asked us to evacuate our houses a long time ago and I've been told that the fire
09:49has entered and spread through the village.
09:51And what I heard is the fire is coming to Mikrokori.
09:55The situation is chaotic.
09:57Our military unit has been here from the beginning and we're trying to help the fire unit and
10:02the volunteer teams.
10:03You can see we're surrounded by fire here.
10:06The night will be very hard.
10:09Meanwhile in China, authorities registered over 26 million people affected after heavy
10:14rains and floods in July.
10:16The National Committee for Disaster Reduction and the Ministry of Emergency Management said
10:201.1 million people were relocated to temporary shelters.
10:25Authorities also reported 328 people dead or missing.
10:29While direct economic losses amounted to 10.7 billion U.S. dollars, rainfall is expected
10:35to persist in central and eastern inland Mongolia, Beijing, Hebei, the Sichuan Basin
10:40and other places, so authorities remain on alert.

11:33Welcome back.
11:37In Palestine, Israeli occupation forces killed at least two journalists this Sunday.
11:42Journalist Tamim Muammar of the Palestinian Television Network and Abdullah Al-Susi of
11:47the Al-Aqsa Television Network were killed, along with their families, in Hanjounis.
11:51The journalist union denounced that occupation forces killed 168 journalists since October
11:572023.
11:58The union affirmed that the assassinations of journalists are systematic crimes committed
12:02by the Israeli army and urged the prosecutors of the International Criminal Court to open
12:07an investigation into Israeli crimes against Palestinian journalists.
12:11In this context, the Israeli government renewed a ban on Al-Mayadeen media network, including
12:21the seizure of its equipment and blockade of its websites.
12:24The measure was enforced after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, along with the Nesset,
12:28approved the proposal of the head of communications, Loh Mocharai.
12:32Earlier Israeli authorities had labeled Al-Mayadeen as a threat to the security of Israel and
12:37described its journalists as terrorists.
12:39The occupied regime went against the network due to its covering since the Al-Aqsa flood
12:44until nowadays, not only the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip, but also Israeli attacks
12:49on the West Bank and occupied Al-Quds.
12:52Therefore, reporters from Al-Mayadeen had been persecuted and even killed, as the media
12:56network supports Lebanese Hezbollah and the Hamas-Palestinian resistance movement.
13:06After the Israeli decision became known, the pan-Arab news network Al-Mayadeen reported
13:10in a statement.
13:11The decision of the Israeli government and its president evidences the structural choice
13:15of the Israeli occupation in confronting the press.
13:18The Israeli occupation reveals its hostile face towards free professional media committed
13:22to human issues.
13:23Al-Mayadeen will not submit to blackmail or pressure, no matter the size or scope of its
13:28influence.
13:30The media calls on free Arabs and the world to express their rejection of the systematic
13:35and ongoing policies of the Israeli occupation against the press.
13:42And the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah maintains its actions against Israeli targets
13:47amidst the bombardment of southern localities.
13:50The movement announced the direct hit of its military operations with artillery shells,
13:54rockets and missiles as part of the battlefront in support of the Palestinian people and the
13:59resistance in the Gaza Strip.
14:00The resistance fighters also reported direct hits by targeting Israeli uniformed gatherings.
14:05They also confirmed the attack on the Israeli side of al-Marsh and the destruction of surveillance
14:09equipment at the al-Malkiya site.
14:17Also in Palestine, the Israeli occupation army announced the beginning of a new military
14:21operation in Hanounis and urged the civilian population to evacuate the city.
14:25The occupation announced this Sunday an operation in the al-Jala area in the Gaza Strip against
14:30the Palestinian resistance, after denouncing the launching of rockets against Israel from
14:35the area.
14:36The Tel Aviv army urged residents to go to safe places despite local media denouncing
14:40that Israel is sustaining attacks against several localities in the Gaza Strip and even
14:44against areas declared as safe.
14:47The new Israeli operation was announced despite criticisms against the Tel Aviv after an attack
14:51on a school in central Gaza where more than 100 civilians were killed and dozens wounded.
15:00And on Sunday, the president of Iran, Massoud Pashinyan, submitted the list of his cabinet
15:05department for a vote of confidence.
15:08Among nominated ministers is Sison Abbas Araqchi for the Foreign Affairs Relations post.
15:14As of Monday, the parliamentary committees will review the proposal, as confirmed by
15:18the Speaker of Parliament, Mohammad Bakr Ghalibaf, after having received the list.
15:23In addition to the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ismail Khatib is nominated
15:27to take over the Ministry of Intelligence, as he had held that post in the late President
15:33Ebrahim Raisi's term.
15:35Meanwhile, for the Ministry of Defence, the nominee is General Aziz Nasirzadeh, who has
15:40served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces since September 2021.
15:50Syria's foreign ministry demands the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from its territory
15:55and it condemns the practices of the Syrian Democratic Forces militia.
16:00On a statement, the foreign ministry assured that the SDF perpetrated criminal attacks
16:04on the population in their Assur and Hazakeh provinces and in the city of Qamishli, resulting
16:10in the death of Syrian citizens, including children and women.
16:14The entity further denounced that the U.S. fighter jets supported that militia by targeting
16:19innocent civilians who were defending their families, villages and properties.
16:24All the inhuman SDF practices against the eastern and northeastern regions aim at doubling
16:28the suffering of Syrians and prolonging the war on them.
16:34The Paris 2024 Olympic Games came to an end on Sunday.
16:53Let's take a look at the final medal tally.
16:55The United States and China shared the same number of gold medals, with 40, but the United
16:59States laid the medal tally due to its 126 medals total.
17:03Thus, the second place went to China, with 40 gold medals out of 91 total, and in third
17:08place another Asian nation secured to be on the podium, in this sense Japan, with 20 golds
17:14out of 45 total.
17:15On the other hand, Brazil finished 20th place, with 3 gold medals and a total of 20, to lead
17:21the Latin American and Caribbean countries, while Cuba was placed behind Brazil and 32nd
17:27overall thanks to 2 gold medals out of 9 total.
