00:00The fight against dengue still continues in Quezon City. Let's go back to our guest, Marie Zubani.

00:11Yes, Ivan, good morning. We are still here in Barangay San Isidro in Galas, Quezon City, Tinukoy, which is one of the dengue spots.

00:20As you can see behind me, this morning, the second cycle of community anti-dengue spraying has started.

00:28This is the initiative of the Quezon City Health Department.

00:31As of July, there are already 10 cases of dengue here in their area.

00:39We will move away so that we can hear each other.

00:42We will talk to their sanitation officer.

00:49But before that, let me show you the machines they are carrying.

00:55These are called ultra-low-volume misting machines that emit smoke.

00:59The target of these machines is to open adult mosquitoes, especially their breeding sites.

01:05From July to August, they are in their first and second cycle in different schools in District 1 to District 6,

01:11as well as in other barangays like Barangay Payatas and Barangay Loyola Heights.

01:15As I mentioned earlier, for more details, we will talk to the Quezon City Health Department,

01:31First of all, is there an increase in the number of cases of dengue here in the entire Quezon City?

01:37Is it only in the 19 areas here in the barangay or in the entire Quezon City?

01:41Actually, this 19 is only in the barangay of San Ysidro, Gala.

01:44San Ysidro, Gala.

01:45So far, we have decreased by 22% according to the surveillance of our unit.

01:52Yes, so from when did this period decrease?

01:56Was it after we started spraying?

01:58Yes, ma'am.

01:59Because our data is from January to July.

02:03We increased compared to last year.

02:29How big is the concern of this dengue disease?

02:45So even if we have different cases that are occurring, dengue is still there.

02:49But is this detrimental? Is dengue fatal?

02:53It can kill a dengue patient, especially if they are not able to fight it.

03:05For example, if we are in the middle of spraying and we see smoke, is it okay?

03:11Actually, the smoke that you see is from the motor.

03:16But the mist itself is called fog.

03:19It is safe for humans.

03:22It has a minimal toxicity level.

03:25Because we are being followed by the DOH and the World Health Organization

03:30regarding the toxicity level of the chemicals that we should use.

03:37so that we can make sure that all the chemicals that we use are safe?
