00:00I mean I find it really exciting to be telling a story for people who are
00:04passionate because I am so passionate about what I do and I try to do things
00:10really really well and and so I think that to have people who are invested and
00:17interested and care I look at that as an opportunity and a responsibility so I
00:23would so much rather have people who are incredibly passionate than people
00:27who are indifferent so I find it thrilling I optioned it originally
00:33because I was so moved by it after I read it and because I had such a
00:41cathartic experience reading the book and I knew what this book meant to so
00:44many of the original diehard fans who had discovered Colleen on Goodreads and
00:49and ranked it's you know so high and and and also had you know had life-changing
00:55experiences after reading it which is such a clear emotional roadmap and I was
00:59so lucky to have that to have a character who you know normally if I
01:06play a woman with it has light and levity and humor that's all she has or
01:10normally if I play a character who has darkness or sadness or trauma or pain
01:14that's all she has but to have a story and a film where you know you can have
01:20levity and light and joy and humor and and and sexiness and you can also have
01:26like friendship and you can have youth and you can have adult life it really
01:30had everything and you don't often get a character like that everything went
01:37bonkers and this thing sold another nine million copies you know what I remember
01:45my company emailing me my head of production emailing me that the book was
01:52number one on the New York Times bestseller list and I just was very
01:55confused because I didn't know that that happened that the book that came out
02:00seven years before it could like and I didn't understand how it happened
02:03because at the time I wasn't on tik-tok I didn't know what tik-tok was so I just
02:09remember just being like wait what is happening and then also feeling in some
02:14ways the strange confirmation you know I believe in God I believe that things
02:18happen the way they're supposed to I believe that there's guidance and it
02:23felt very much like okay this is an important story that I need to tell and
02:29be a part of and have our company tell.
