00:00My husband's not a huge cook, but he makes a wonderful strawberry shortcake, like a shortbread
00:12type of thing.
00:14And it is absolutely wonderful.
00:15And I don't like sweets, but I like that.
00:17Yes, I do.
00:18Oh my goodness, I've never been asked that.
00:21You know, when we first started dating, we started movie dating on a Friday night.
00:28And so we would have margaritas and a movie.
00:31And so we would eat at Mexican restaurants, and we would try every single Mexican restaurant
00:36around us.
00:37We were both kind of public servants, didn't make a lot of money.
00:40But there would be taco Tuesdays, not taco Fridays.
00:44So sometimes our date would be on Tuesdays, and we would have a margarita and tacos.
00:49That was our thing.
00:51My mother is from Puerto Rico.
00:54And so she makes a black rice with calamari, it's called arroz con calamares.
01:00And that is my go to.
01:03My fallback, if my mom is not making something for me, is lobster.
01:08It's my favorite.
01:10Oh, yes, it would be lobster.
01:12It would probably be a lobster roll from Nancy's in Martha's Vineyard.
01:17I would probably eat about four of them.
01:19When I'm on the vineyard, which is where the first book takes place, Summer on the Bluffs,
01:23and in Oak Bluffs, it's my first stop when I get off the ferry.
01:27I get a lobster roll.
01:29You know, my co-hosts at The View make fun of me, but I eat Funyuns.
01:35I think it's kind of a strange thing, but I eat Funyuns.
01:40It's not great for the breath.
01:42So I have mints also, but I love a Funyun.
01:48I just, it's from a childhood thing.
01:51I don't know.
01:52I like it.
01:53I didn't like Brussels sprouts as a child.
01:55I don't like it now.
01:56I didn't like cauliflower as a child.
01:57I don't like it now.
01:59I didn't like spinach, but I'm also a gardener, and I started planting spinach, and I've got
02:07to tell you, like a nice sautéed spinach with oil, olive oil and garlic, a little salt
02:13and pepper, I have that like once a week.
02:16You know, I made up this frittata, and the backstory is that, you know, my husband's
02:21originally from Spain, and his favorite dish is something called tortilla de patata.
02:29And my mother-in-law refused to give me the recipe because I always say he has siblings,
02:37but he's her favorite, and she would just say, no problem, Sonny, I'll just bring it
02:42over, and she sure would.
02:44She would make it at home where I couldn't watch, and she would bring it over.
02:49And so, you know, once you're a cook, you can taste things and figure it out, and so
02:56I figured it out, but I put my own spin on it.
02:58I would never say that he likes it more than he likes his mom's, but he eats a hefty portion
03:05of that, man.
03:06I mean, he really gets into it, so that's my frittata recipe, and it's pretty darn good.
