00:00Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has never been shy
00:03about stating her opinion on a whole set of hotbed issues.
00:06And when it comes to her fashion choices,
00:08the Colorado fire brand is just as eager
00:10to make a statement.
00:12Lauren Boebert's favorite accessory
00:13is a gun holster strapped to her thigh.
00:15When she poses for photos,
00:16she also strategically angles her body
00:19to make sure it's obvious that she's packing heat.
00:21As the owner of the now-closed Shooter's Grill
00:24in the aptly named town of Rifle, Colorado,
00:26Boebert required servers to wear guns
00:28slung from their hips.
00:29Firearms have nothing to do with
00:30the amazing hamburgers we cook.
00:32The gimmick gained the businesswoman national notoriety,
00:34so she adopted it when she hit the campaign trail.
00:37However, during a 2020 Flag Day celebration,
00:40Boebert apparently decided
00:41that simply wearing her deadly weapon
00:43was not enough to convey just how precious it is to her.
00:46On a T-shirt, she listed her priorities,
00:48making it easy for voters to understand
00:50where she stands on all the issues.
00:52It read, God Guns Trump.
00:55In a series of photos that Boebert posted
00:57on Facebook in 2023,
00:59she's pictured meeting with workers on a construction site.
01:02Everyone is dressed casually in jeans and sturdy work boots,
01:05except the congresswoman,
01:06who is wearing a blue sheath dress and strappy high heels
01:09featuring a colorful snakeskin print.
01:11In one photo, Boebert has her hand on her side
01:13and is leaning forward,
01:14as if it's painful for her to walk on the rocky gravel
01:17in her impractical footwear.
01:18Some critics called Boebert out
01:20for choosing the wrong time to get glammed up
01:22for a photo op.
01:23One Facebook user wrote,
01:24this isn't a Vogue fashion shoot, Lauren.
01:26Boebert has bad luck with sheath dresses.
01:28In her memoir, My American Life,
01:30she recalls how excited she was
01:32when she got the opportunity to meet Donald Trump
01:34for the first time in person at Mount Rushmore.
01:36Unfortunately, she noticed that part of the hem
01:38of her dress had unraveled shortly before that magic moment.
01:41She wrote in the memoir,
01:43that's when what I like to call
01:44my rifle redneck instinct kicked in.
01:46As she stapled that sucker back together,
01:48Boebert's ex-husband, Jason, took photos to document it.
01:51It's just too bad that her instinct
01:53didn't tell her to dress differently
01:54for her dusty meeting with some blue collar workers.
01:57Remember when Trump started selling gold sneakers
02:00to make a quick buck?
02:01Well, it seems that Boebert wasn't special enough
02:03to get gifted a pair of the Never Surrender high tops,
02:06nor was she able to snag some before they sold out online.
02:09After winning her primary race,
02:11Boebert gave a victory speech
02:12while wearing a little black dress
02:14and what appeared to be a pair of Trump branded shoes.
02:17But Boebert put her relationship with Trump
02:18at risk with her footwear.
02:20She admitted to Westward,
02:21these are very China, but I'm okay with that.
02:24If I could have bought the OGs, I would have.
02:26Boebert reportedly laughed when she confessed
02:28to giving money that should have gone into Trump's pocket
02:30to a Chinese competitor.
02:31Ex-users also found some humor
02:33in her ill-considered purchase.
02:35One ex-user wrote on the site,
02:36the sneakerheads were quick to spot the fakes
02:39when they noticed the high quality of the shoes
02:41Ms. Boebert was wearing.
02:42Meanwhile, Trump probably was not laughing.
02:44According to NBC News,
02:46the maker of the official sneakers,
02:4845 Footwear LLC launched a legal crusade
02:51to shut down any counterfeiter selling fakes.
02:53Maybe Boebert did her boss a solid
02:55by passing along the name of the company that produced hers.
02:58For most Americans, the number 1776
03:01represents the year the US declared independence
03:04from Great Britain.
03:05However, as the Washington Post noted,
03:07it took on a different meaning
03:08during the January 2021 insurrection at the US Capitol.
03:12Some members of the far right who participated in the siege
03:15wore the date on their clothing,
03:16believing they were part of a new revolution.
03:18Boebert seemed to endorse this belief that day
03:20when she tweeted,
03:21Today is 1776.
03:24So when Boebert wore a shirt with the number on it in 2022,
03:27she raised a lot of eyebrows.
03:29In fact, some of the Colorado Congresswoman's critics
03:32believe she was giving her supporters
03:33a not so subtle clue
03:35that she was on the side of the insurrectionists.
03:37Boebert wore the potentially problematic garment
03:39while participating in a demolition derby.
03:41In an Instagram video that features footage
03:43of her ramming a battered pink car into other vehicles,
03:46Boebert says,
03:47Getting there ain't always pretty, but freedom always wins.
03:51The pink car also has 1776 painted on its side.
03:54When the competition ends,
03:56she climbs on the roof of her junker to celebrate.
03:58However, some viewers were not impressed with her work.
04:01One person wrote in the comment section,
04:02Yes, we know you love destroying things.
04:05Another commenter was equally dissatisfied
04:07with Boebert's video.
