04:55So it's that yo-yo effect where he's gonna try to run away
04:58Those guys don't have to really close. They just have to maintain this gap and so far it doesn't look like they can do it

05:15I mean, he's very smooth and sometimes when you show up
05:18I remember the first time I came to this track if you just find the flow and it seems like chances found just the lines
05:24It becomes natural for you. So with him, there's no bad vibes here
05:28It's only been positive and it just looks easy to me
05:31He's just got to keep racing for and he'll obviously has the speed you can walk away from these guys

06:42Going now Levi's closing that gap or keeping it. It's gonna be important for a chance now to just regroup

06:53It was a bit of a rush job as he jumped on to this team monster Yamaha star racing for Southwick
06:59Made a lot of progress here that he's got about two months under his belt and that break lots of training testing
07:06Said one thing he noticed every rider on the team runs the same handlebars and after a while. He's like, can I just
07:11Try something different. He's a little taller than a lot of the guys on the team. So even that basics like that
07:16He's had to change but he's got company from Deegan now. Yeah, this is what Hayden's been doing all year long
07:22Even if he gets past he just kind of tries not to take too many mistakes or lose too many points
07:27So good to see max out here. It definitely looks more comfortable Katie
07:31He does look comfortable and you know why guys okay
07:34I'm not taking all credit for this but he went to Disney World with his family during the break and I gotta think that is
07:38Such a great reset. He said he was a family guy for a while
07:41Meanwhile, you can see that there is a battle going on with Brian Hayden Deegan
07:45And in fact Hayden and Brian I was having a conversation with them
07:48And we know that Hayden went full throttle during those couple of weeks off
07:52Brian said maybe two weeks in the Sun in Florida is catching up a little bit with him different than some of these other riders
07:59So keep that in mind. He might be a little bit more tired as Brian was kind of indicating than some of these other guys
08:04Yeah, yeah, we'll have to watch JT. Well Tommy out just came through the mechanics area to get his bike sorted out now
08:10He went back out on the racetrack, but he's a good 30 seconds behind everybody not named Joey Sivaji
08:15So the most important thing here for Hayden Deegan is as he starts to close in on this championship
08:20The odds of him clenching this a butt streak become better and better because the number two competitor may not even get points in this moto
08:26Yeah, thanks JT. That was the story coming in could Deegan maintain that 54 point lead through next weekend
08:32Well, it gets a lot easier because now BL as you see on the left side would drop to 30 points
08:37And Deegan's gap to kitchen would be 66. He needs a 50 point lead by the end of next weekend
08:43Yeah, I was thinking about what max the motivation for going to
08:47Disney World. Yeah, I'm sure he's motivated. He's probably rotten good because how expensive it was he has to come out here get the podium
08:54So yeah, we had a good time with family vacation, but the but the wall is a little lighter now

09:03As Katie was saying a lot of the riders use the break to rest and recover
09:08Hayden did not and he told me he's got bigger goals than just focusing on being ready for you to Dilla

09:15But he does not want to take time that he could use to get better and not utilize it
09:20So he was willing to take that risk of putting in extra work during the time off
09:25Yeah, I think really for Hayden is more just his mindset mentally
09:29I mean, he knows he's not probably not gonna get that much better
09:32But the fact is other guys are taking the time. It's just sending a message when you guys are tired
09:37I'm still able to come out here still training and that's kind of what the message that he's probably doing and
09:42Hopefully he's still young enough. I don't think it affect him too much
09:45Yeah, only 18 years old that does help with the recovery
09:48But it said he was working a lot on riding technique. The goal wasn't to do long motos
09:54But he's like man this time of year just standing around in Florida will train you so no matter what kind of riding you're doing

10:04Well, it's funny when you think about Hayden Deegan, he keeps talking about he has higher goals
10:09He is not only thinking about this pro motocross championship not thinking about defending his SMA championship
10:14What else is there you have to start thinking about he's looking at guys like jet warren's guys
10:19I chicks like chase sex and he knows to compete at the next level to go up and immediately win
10:25He's gonna have to be a better rider. So he's talking about working on technique working on fundamentals
10:30It's for that purpose. Listen, he's got a 60-plus point lead in this class. It's not about that
10:35It's about moving up moving to a 450 and immediately being a force in that class
10:40The only way to do it is to be better than he is today. I
10:44Think that's it JT. I think he's already set his sights on goals down the road now
10:49This is something new we have so our SMX track view got a couple of bikes not the whole field yet
10:54This is something that they've been working on
10:56They even used it at the combines and at Loretta Lynn's with some of the amateur riders, but you can see the owl

11:58On the 250 was a 450 racer with the mock-off FXR Club of X Yamaha team. They let him go
12:04He was supposed to move to Pro Circuit for next year
12:07He called Mitch Payton the owner and said can we maybe do something early and they made it happen?

12:13I mean he was one of the guys you know younger career coming up like hey Deegan supposed to be one of the next guys
12:19Come up and win this thing so with that team
12:21Yeah with the Los Angeles Pro Circuit team so good to see him and you got to think mentally he probably feels like he's look
12:28I'm going back a class or his cock this class should be easier
12:31So for him good to see him up probably a lot of motivation the way to deal went down
12:36Great to see Mitch Payton and Garrett out here, and I asked him about the switch to the 250 said yeah
12:41That that's been an adjustment, but for him. It's more of the life
12:44Change having to go from we talked about the top of the show you can live at the Club of X track
12:50Which he did so he not only lost his ride
12:52But then he had to find a new place to stay had to get out to California to be able to test that bike
12:56It has been chaotic as he has been saying and not showing on the racetrack six right now
13:01Yeah, well, maybe that that change has been a good thing when you life throws you a spiral like that
13:06You have no I have nothing no choice, but to change so he looks good
13:10It looks really comfortable and how this track is and how fast it is
13:13I think if you are going to switch from a 450 to 250 because this track is really fast
13:18It's going to maybe minimize some of the the differences between those two bikes and having to shift a lot
13:24So it's probably a lot easier for him with the speeds of this track to adjust it at 250 class
13:31There's Mark Banks continuing, and then we'll go back next in the group should be rider D Francisco who has
13:38Slip it surely area is in the 34 battling with Shimoda on the 30
13:43He's gone back home to Bakersfield, California about two hours or so out of Southern, California
13:48Where he had been riding and honestly since then they getting better and better
13:53He's been right around this spot as of late Katie
13:55That's absolutely right and rider is actually one of those guys who is actually he has something
14:01He's intentionally working on those roll speeds in the corners. He wants to use that momentum better
14:05So as he's in this battle right now with Joe Shimoda, that's actually something that he might be thinking about here

14:21Up one pace around the whole corner instead of being a fast and slowing down stop and go

14:33That's what he's been working for a couple weeks as Joe's tried to get up inside it's been working for sure. Oh
14:39Joe had trouble in the ruts. Yeah, he didn't get stuck in the rut. He crossed about seven of them right there
14:45Easily can happen this whole track is it's on an angle
14:48So when these guys, you know lose it to get off balance with all these ruts
14:52They end up crossing multiple ruts and that gets sketchy as the state goes on
14:57This is the battle for seven Dax Venick is nine and Pierce Brown up to ten

16:28Brown putting pressure on Benick and Benick said the biggest problem really has been starts. He's faster in the week

16:57And those two could be teammates last year some of the rumors that Brown could be headed to that team on the Yamaha and as

17:13This is started part of the season where you get guys like Daxton and for being a rookie now
17:19They had an opportunity to race this track last year
17:21So they're probably familiar on these last three races same thing with Julian
17:24So now it's starting to get into that second sophomore season. Just being here the second time. Maybe that helped these guys out

19:20But the gap has extended from one to two not necessarily anything
19:23I miss is doing more deacon might be starting to push up to the rear of kitchen
19:27This is around the time where we start to see a Hayden deacon charge to keep an eye on him
19:31That's six to seven seven second window can be eaten up really really quick when he starts dropping the lap times

19:54He had a great part about this racetrack it hasn't it's still rocky out
19:58But it's not as rocky as it has been in your past so before you couldn't even be close to a guy you had to
20:03Worry about a rocket in the finger and breaking a hand or finger, so good to see them open it up
20:09But yeah, you can start to see Hayden starting to see that number 48 get away
20:13And if he wants to win this race you have to get around these guys pretty quickly
20:17Well, I think some people might watch this and say hey deacon's got the big point lead. Is he really worried about that?
20:22What do you think he want to go all the way to the front here?
20:25I think hey, I mean we heard his comments about like he wanted to get better. I think his attitude
20:31I just want to win. You know I don't have to worry about the points if I just keep these guys
20:35So yeah, I mean at back of his mind. He's not gonna take any
20:39Necessarily chances, but I think hey the way he rides
20:42He's got a ride like he's trying to win the race
20:45And he does that a lot of times he does
20:48But I think for him is easier to have that mindset than trying to protect something because then
20:52Mistakes happen, and we see how quickly things happen in championship

21:21Close back up the kitchen. Yeah, the tricky part about that section. It's like you have to get
21:26Instantly out of that corner you got to get that part right because otherwise if you spin up then you lose all that time going
21:32Up that hill and actually able to execute that corner on that inside good got that bike on that rear wheel and was tracking for
21:39Interesting to see if Deacon picks up on that line the next time around

22:37There's a lot of rocks on this track and as much as these bikes are spinning as you can see that hard base
22:42These guys start spinning up out of the corners. Just lose a lot of time because you don't execute the corner, right?
22:48That's what we saw with Max and with Hayden right there exactly
22:53Katie you know the conversation for a lot of these guys are what did they work on over those last couple of weeks and for
22:58Hayden Deacon he worked on his right hand turns. He said it's not necessarily a weakness, but more of bad habit
23:04Stu can you kind of lean into that a little bit more?
23:06Why is it why is the bad habit so easy to be formed in that in that regard about these right?

23:15You know the brake clutch whatever like what is he working on?
23:18I think for him, you know, I I struggle more in the right-handed corner just because the brakes you don't have the opportunity
23:25To hit the rear brake. So maybe that's what he's talking about. So maybe the right-handed corners
23:31Having a rear brake you got to work on roll speed. So maybe that's what he's talking
23:34Whatever he's doing. Look at the line that he's starting to get it working. Yeah, he picked up on the Anstey line
23:39And he's right there. He could think this the Disney World for that line. That was nice
23:43Let him like it's like cutting line at Disney World that really paid off. We've got the fast pass. Yeah

23:56This is a cool part because the way this track works out you can square them up go around that inside of them
24:02I love it. It flows really a lot and it's gonna keep Levi guessing as he's doing here's hating up the inside

24:51Depending on which lines you're gonna make you can actually make a lot of time up by going straight into the corner
24:57But then you lose it going out because of how this track angle. So these guys are paying attention

26:04Fast he was and he was able to beat Hayden straight up at bill bill. That's first moto and even the second moto
26:10Kitchen was closed in Washougal. Maybe it's back open. He has an opportunity with almost four and a half minutes left to win this race
26:17Well this last section of the track definitely worked for the 47
26:22Yeah, Levi's been quicker up in this section
26:24But then hate starts closing it back in and a lot of that could be just being in second
26:29You can see when the guys breaking and as I say like depending on how you want to attack the corner
26:34You go farther inside you can get a little bit more speed and you can get a little bit more speed
26:38You go farther inside you can close in on the guy
26:42Really quickly, but you'll lose it coming out. Maybe that's what it was going back and forth between those guys
26:49And I'll bump and stay up to third now

26:58Garrett March paint still run his fifth
27:00And just a bummer for hymas, but that is what this racetrack
27:04It's been heartbreak Hill many many times for many riders, you just never know

27:21It looks like Levi kitchen has found a little bit more aggression knowing that a race wins back on the cards here
27:26But also for Deegan
27:27I think he can afford to be a little bit more patient the race changed because before he needed to get around

30:33It's like a mud race, you know how considering the deepness but the tracks dry
30:38So they're hitting these thing at speed what we were talking about
30:40How come guys don't have what we saw with chance Hymas hyphen war?
30:43And I think a lot of that was because of the way the soil is so it's not surprising to see it
30:47Just it's tough. This track is very different long ruts
30:51It's a hard base. And once that rear end goes you just saw what happened with chance
30:56Yeah, we don't see those crashes all the time
30:58But you're saying there's a lot of small moments that they may be fixed or correct or save
