00:00Since this morning, hundreds of students have been gathering here, we are right here at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
00:08They have been asking for the resignation of the Chief Justice of Bangladesh, Obaidul Hassan.
00:14And after the pressure built by these gathering students, he eventually resigned.
00:21But there are certain bureaucratic processes that takes time, like the government has to approve his resignation
00:27and then the President has to sign the resignation later.
00:30But the students are saying they don't have time for this.
00:33They immediately want his resignation to be accepted.
00:37They accuse the Chief Justice of leaning towards Sheikh Hasina and being biased
00:43and also awarding sentences that were anti-students.
00:47Now the students here, they not only are asking for the resignation of the Chief Justice of India,
00:53but they also want the other six judges to resign immediately.
00:58So what we feel here is that they want a complete overhaul of the state machinery
01:05and also they want a complete political cleanup.
01:09And until that is not done, they say that they will continue this revolution, this protest they have started.
01:16So they want a complete political change.
01:20With the situation remaining tense, as you just mentioned,
01:23will Mohammed Yunus' caretaker government be able to restore law and order anytime soon?
01:32Within the 24 hours of taking oath, he announced the different portfolios for his cabinet.
01:39Some more names were also added to the list of those who will be ruling the country through different ministries.
01:46But it still feels that when you are moving in the country or in Dhaka, law and order is missing.
01:54The police is nowhere to be seen.
01:56People are spending sleepless nights across the country.
02:01They are patrolling their neighborhoods and houses
02:04because there are lots of looting and burning down of houses happening in the country.
02:11The students have taken the charge of managing the traffic.
02:15They are also doing the cleaning in streets.
02:19So they seem very, very motivated.
02:22And they say that it's their job now to contribute in making a new Bangladesh.
02:28And it is their effort and it's like a new independence to them.
02:33And therefore they feel and they say that they are happy to do these state reforms for their country.
