00:00A celebrity is moving in the street,
00:02and you go and ask your son
00:05to ask this celebrity for an autograph.
00:08You are linking your son with that celebrity.
00:13In the book of Al-Tabarani,
00:15the narration of the hadith happened after
00:17the death of the Prophet ﷺ.
00:20Ishaq ibn Yahya ibn Talha.
00:23It seems that this is a tabi'i.
00:25He says,
00:25I was with my uncle Isa ibn Talha in the mosque.
00:29Perhaps in Medina or in Damascus.
00:33And an old man entered,
00:35called Al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid.
00:38Now Al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid, an old man now,
00:42he is a companion.
00:43Because he saw the Prophet ﷺ.
00:46Al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid is an old man now.
00:49When he was young, he was a child.
00:52Well, that's an obvious statement.
00:55But everyone knows that he's a companion.
00:58But now we are not the age of the companions.
01:00We are in the age of the tabi'in.
01:02So, Isa, the uncle, is saying to Ishaq.
01:07Ishaq seems to be a young boy, young tabi'i.
01:10He says,
01:11Go and ask Al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid.
01:14Has he ever seen the Prophet ﷺ?
01:19So Ishaq goes to the sheikh.
01:22In the hadith it says the sheikh, an old man.
01:25And he says, my uncle Isa ibn Talha is asking you,
01:28هل رأيت رسول الله ﷺ?
01:31Have you seen Rasulullah ﷺ?
01:35And this sheikh is saying what now?
01:37Talking about beautiful memories, childhood memories.
01:40He's saying,
01:41I entered one day to Rasulullah ﷺ in the mosque,
01:45ومعي غلمة.
01:47With some children.
01:49Which shows if anything good company.
01:51And we saw him.
01:54فوجدناه يأكل تمران.
01:55He was eating dates with some companions.
01:58And when he saw us,
02:00Al-Sa'ib, the sheikh, is saying,
02:02and when he saw us,
02:04he took some dates and he gave them to us.
02:09What next?
02:11Nothing, end of story.
02:13But what an honorable story.
02:16What a fascinating document.
02:18What a source of pride.
02:20So much so that the uncle says to the son,
02:24or to the young boy,
02:26go and ask him, have you seen him?
02:29So what if, yes you have seen him,
02:32yes you touched his hand,
02:35and yes you've eaten dates that he has given you.
02:38What a source of honor and what a source of pride.
02:41The fascinating thing is that he still remembers.
02:46Notice in that hadith,
02:48how the uncle is anxious to link the young boy
02:52with the legacy of Rasulullah.
02:55Imagine now, a celebrity is moving in the street.
02:59And you go and ask your son
03:02to ask this celebrity for an autograph.
03:05What are you doing?
03:06You are linking your son with that celebrity.
03:10With the shoes of that celebrity.
03:12With the shaver of that celebrity.
03:13With the glasses of that celebrity.
03:17With the shirt of that celebrity.
03:19With the haircut of that celebrity.
03:22With the scandals of that celebrity.
03:25With the pregnancy of the girlfriend of that celebrity.
03:29Now imagine, you link that boy
03:34with a simple story,
03:37such as seeing the Prophet ﷺ.
03:40What sort of a bond are you creating
03:43with the young generation?
03:44You are making them feel
03:46that everything that is associated with Rasulullah ﷺ
03:49is honorable, including that shaykh
03:52who is called Asa'ib ibn Yazid.
