00:00Hi, I'm Allison Tolman, I'm Wendy McClendon-Covey, I'm David Alan Grier, and here's a sneak peek at our new show, St. Dennis Medical.
00:12Okay, got you a packed lunch, treats from the vending machine on me, and this is the number for that drug treatment center.
00:20Okay.
00:21Same one I told you about the last three times you OD'd. I know, I'll call them.
00:26You really, really got to lay off the drugs, okay? You could actually die, and then, you know, who would come bug me and make me spend all my quarters on them, right?
00:35No more, I promise. No drugs from now on.
00:38Okay, good.
00:42Listen, if you are going to use it again, as a nurse I have access to some really good stuff, and I will hook you up, okay?
00:52Yeah, let's do that.
00:54No, man, that was a test, see?
00:57Yeah.
00:58That's what you can't do. Get your stuff, I'm going to get your chair and get you out of here.
01:01You want to rehearse it again?
01:02I didn't know we were going to be-
01:03Do you want some drugs, and you say, no.
01:05No, but I didn't expect you to say that.
01:08When I was a kid I really wanted to be a doctor, and then when I was in college my nan got sick, so we spent a lot of time in the hospital.
01:16And that's when I realized that the nurses really provide the care part of healthcare.
01:21So I became an RN, and I love it.
01:24You know, it's not always glamorous, and our patients don't always appreciate us.
01:31And the pay's not great, I mean, considering the amount of work and the risks that we take.
01:35But every now and then a moment comes along where you truly change someone's life, and that's beautiful.
01:43Uh, Mr. Flynn, those are supposed to open in the back.
01:49I don't want you to see my tushy.
01:54Welcome to St. Dennis Medical Center, an international medical destination.
02:00It's what I hope to be saying in about five to ten years time.
02:04It's going to take a lot of vision, a lot of hard work, and a lot more donations.
02:10Hint.
02:12We are a safety net hospital, which means we provide care to everyone, regardless of insurance or financial status.
02:19But that just means we have to work extra hard and stay positive.
02:23Hey, you guys.
02:25What is it that I always say? What's the most infectious thing in a hospital?
02:30C. diff?
02:31No.
02:32Antibiotic-resistant staph.
02:34No.
02:35I think it's pneumonia.
02:36No, you guys. The most infectious thing in a hospital is a smile.
02:41I've never heard you say that before.
02:43I say it all the time.
02:44We have a new floor nurse starting today. It's a young guy from Montana.
02:48Montana. Ooh, yeah. Bring it to me, please.
02:52That is exactly the type of unprofessional reaction I was going to warn you about. You can't do that.
02:56Really excited to meet him.
02:57Or that. Stop it.
02:59Stop what?
03:00You okay?
03:01Yeah. I was just dry-humping the desk and imagining it was a Montana nurse.
03:05Cool.
03:06So, apparently, I ordered so much Postmates last month, they sent me a gift card.
03:11Sweet.
03:12Sad. That's a sad thing.
03:13Yeah, I lean towards sad, too. But Burgerville milkshakes tonight on me.
03:19Can I get mine with oat milk?
03:20Probably not. You?
03:22Oh, no. I'm good. My shift's done at four.
03:24Please. You always work past your shift.
03:26Not tonight. My kids are doing Mamma Mia at school.
03:29How about a backup milkshake? You seem like a hazelnut gal.
03:32Nope. No need. I am done at four.
03:34Okay. There'll be no sharing later.
03:36Okay. Can you go help a sick person now?
03:38No one share milkshakes with this woman.
03:42Put your hand up so they can see.
03:43Nurse Alex. No milkshakes for her.
03:46A couple weeks ago, I got a promotion, and so I am officially a supervising nurse.
03:52Came with a small pay bump and a large responsibility bump.
03:58So it's been a little difficult finding that work-life balance.
04:01But, you know, it's good. It'll be good. It'll be good.
