Five things to do in Edinburgh this week

Here are another five recommendations of things to do in Edinburgh over the next week.

00:00Hi folks, I'm Jamie Saunderson from the Edinburgh Evening News and I'm going to take you through

00:04five things to do in Edinburgh over the next week. So, as you all know, the Fringe Festival

00:09is now in full swing, so we're going to continue this week with a theme of some Fringe events

00:15that we think stick out. So first of all, on Thursday night, that's the 15th of August,

00:20we've got the premiere of Beowulf the Musical. Now that's going to be held at Greyfriars

00:24Kirkyard and the organisers have promised a night of music, drama and adventure. It's

00:31based of course on the 2007 fantasy film which was so successful at the time. Next up, we've

00:39got some shows that are going to be on throughout the week. So we have 16 Postcodes at the Pleasance,

00:45so that is a highly rated storytelling set by the Irish actress Jessica Reagan and she

00:52shares tales of loving landlords, mice and men and stories and experiences from her years

01:00of living in several different parts of London. And next up, we've got Five Mistakes That

01:06Change History which is going to be held at the Assembly George Square Studios. Now in

01:12this one, the comic and historian Paul Coulter pokes fun at five mistakes which have impacted

01:17our world in a really profound way. And another one which we thought was good to mention was

01:24Trainspotting Live which is going to be held at Pleasance at the Edinburgh International

01:29Conference Centre. So this of course, as we all know, it's a story that's very deeply rooted in

01:36Edinburgh and will forever be associated with the city, but this is an immersive adaptation of the

01:41novel which inspired the cult film. And it also has much to do with the film because there are

01:50recreations of some of the most iconic scenes which the audience are very much involved in.

01:56And lastly, on Friday the 16th, we've got the Swiftageddon. So this is one for true Swifties.

02:03It's a Taylor Swift club night at La Bellangelle nightclub and all the superstars, biggest hits

02:10and some fan favourites as well, some slightly more niche ones are going to play. So that's one

02:15that you don't want to miss if you're a Swifty. And as always you can find out more about these
