00:00Welcome to Tell Us Your English and we go live to Caracas again to the hearings that
00:05are underway in the Supreme Court as we are minutes away from the President Nicolás Maduro
00:11to appear before the Supreme Court.
00:13Let's see.
00:17So we are looking at President Nicolás Maduro accompanied by First Commander Celia Flores.
00:24They are entering the premises of the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela.
00:33They are also accompanied by Vice President Delsi RodrĂguez.
00:38Let's recall that this is part in the context, in the framework of the hearings that are
00:46being carried out by the Supreme Court of Justice and the framework of the investigation
00:53that began when the President himself filed an appeal of contention before the Supreme
00:59Court with the intention of the highest court of the country to investigate and carry out
01:08a thorough investigation into the entire electoral process of the July 28 elections, including
01:16actions that led up to the election, during the election day, and also the actions that
01:22followed.
01:23So, as part of this process, during this whole week, we've been seeing, as from Wednesday,
01:31that all the different political representatives and also former presidential candidates were
01:38summoned and most of them appeared before the court, complying with what the top court
01:44asked of them.
01:46This is the initial round of hearings that aims to gather all information.
01:52The final call is for the President himself, who was re-elected and announced, re-elected
02:00by the electoral authorities of the country after the July 28 elections.
02:08So Nicolás Maduro is now presenting himself, as did all the other presidential candidates,
02:18former presidential candidates, with the exception of far-right representative Edmundo
02:23González, which of course is relevant to understand as part of this process has to
02:31do with giving the opportunity to all political parties to present all their evidence, all
02:37their information regarding the process and specifically the political space that has
02:44Edmundo González, as one of his key representatives, has been providing evidence through the media
02:52and also through a website that was accused as false by the government, but the former
03:03candidate did not present himself to the summons issued by the Supreme Court of Justice to
03:12present his evidence and his information.
03:15So this is all part of the process that was opened last week and aims to clarify the entire
03:24electoral process, also to set apart the verified, correct evidence that every political party
03:33can provide in this process with the false evidence or unverified evidence that has been
03:42distributed through unofficial systems and that the government has denounced, aims to
03:50carry out a campaign of massive disinformation.
03:58Throughout these days, the government has denounced that a coup d'etat is actually underway
04:06or an attempted coup d'etat is underway through the smear campaign that includes the dissemination
04:15of false evidence through media, through foreign media, through different social networks and
04:26this institutional process is the institutional path to clear everything regarding the electoral
04:38process.
04:39So we are looking at President Nicolás Maduro is now entering the courtroom as other authorities
04:55and other former presidential candidates for this past elections have done throughout the week.
05:03This is the same process that other presidential candidates went through.
05:07This is the case of President Nicolás Maduro.
05:13Let's recall also that just minutes ago the representatives of the parties included within
05:25the Greek Patriotic Poll Coalition and specifically the representatives of the United Party of
05:30Venezuela for which Maduro ran as candidate also presented themselves in a separate hearing.
05:39We were listening from Diosdado Cabello just minutes ago who also appeared before the media
05:48and answered a number of questions.
05:54And now what we are seeing is what is scheduled to be the last hearing of the day and that
06:02is the hearing in which former presidential candidate and now re-elected President Nicolás
06:09Maduro appears before the Supreme Court in compliance with the summons that the top tribunal
06:17has done during this election.
06:28Now we see that the authorities, the Supreme Court authorities are entering the room led
06:35by Carlicia RodrĂguez.
