00:00This is a plan. We have to put Imran Khan in jail. We have to punish him with fear.
00:04Who will win, Imran Khan or the Pakistani army?
00:09Namaskar, friends.
00:10On 9th May, 2023, Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan is arrested from Islamabad High Court.
00:24After a few hours, people all over the country take to the streets to protest.
00:31These heavy protests turn into riots in some places.
00:34There is violence. More than 2000 people are arrested.
00:38Imran Khan points his finger directly at Pakistan's army.
00:41And that's why we get to see some historical scenes during the protests.
00:46For the first time, some common people in Pakistan openly start fighting against the military.
00:50I told you not to harass Imran Khan, sir.
00:54Sir, I told you not to harass Imran Khan.
00:57It is said that such instability has been seen in Pakistan for the past few decades.
01:01It is said to be Pakistan's biggest crisis since 1971.
01:06Let's try to understand in today's video.
01:16Friends, last year, in April 2022, when Imran Khan's government fell, when he lost the no confidence vote in the parliament.
01:22Since then, Imran Khan has been involved in one after another legal cases.
01:27Sometimes a case of corruption, sometimes a case of murder, sometimes a case of terrorism.
01:30He and his political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have been accused of about 140 crimes by PTI members.
01:3834 of these cases are against Imran Khan himself.
01:42We get to know this through some documents that were accessed by Foreign Policy American News Publication.
01:48Now, the arrest of Imran Khan on 9th May was specifically done on corruption charges.
01:53These investigations were being led by Pakistan's NAB, i.e. National Accountability Bureau.
01:59So what was this corruption case exactly?
02:01This case was related to Al-Qadir University Trust.
02:04This is a non-governmental welfare organization which was set up by Imran Khan and his third wife, Bushra Bibi.
02:11This trust was formed in 2018 when Imran Khan was in the position of Prime Minister.
02:17As a Prime Minister, he also promoted this trust a lot in official events.
02:21This trust runs a university which is devoted to spirituality and Islamic teachings.
02:26In June 2022, Imran Khan was accused of buying crores of land from Malik Riaz to build this university.
02:35Who is a property tycoon.
02:36Pakistan's NAB says that Imran Khan's government had made a deal with this property tycoon.
02:41Because of this, Pakistan's government incurred a loss of 239 million dollars.
02:47This is around 7,000 crores of Pakistani Rupees and 2,000 crores of Indian Rupees.
02:51It was a quid pro quo arrangement.
02:53That I favor you, you favor me.
02:56The same allegations that are put on many other political corporate nexuses.
03:00Now, on 9th May, Imran Khan had gone to Islamabad High Court to attend a hearing in another case.
03:05And then NAB arrested him using paramilitary forces.
03:10The scene of this arrest was very scary.
03:12You can see on the screen how Imran Khan is being taken.
03:15And how many officers have surrounded him.
03:35NAB said that it was necessary to arrest him.
03:37This was bad because despite giving notices, Imran Khan was not appearing in front of them.
03:41NAB's former prosecutor Imran Shafiq says that although NAB has the authority to arrest someone
03:48if someone shows a repeated absence.
03:51But the case against Imran Khan is very weak.
03:54According to the revised amendment, NAB has to complete its inquiry first.
03:59And has to share the report with the accused first.
04:02Now, apart from this, there is another case in which Imran Khan is badly trapped.
04:06In October 2022, a court in Pakistan ruled that Imran Khan cannot hold any political office for the next 5 years.
04:13He cannot fight elections.
04:15This happened in the Tosha Khana case.
04:17In Pakistan, Tosha Khana is basically a treasury of gifts.
04:21If the price of a gift is less than a certain value, then the receiver can keep these gifts with him.
04:26But the expensive gifts have to be sent to Tosha Khana.
04:30A big allegation in this case was that Imran Khan was given many expensive gifts.
04:35With those gifts, Imran Khan misled the officials.
04:38And sold them at very expensive prices in the market.
04:42In this case, he was later given respite when the court said that he would still be allowed to contest elections.
04:48But when he was arrested in Al-Qadir case,
04:51even in this Tosha Khana case, he was told that he would be kept in custody for 8 days.
04:57Because of this, Imran Khan's supporters took to the streets.
05:00And heavy protests were seen all over Pakistan.
05:02Many interesting videos emerged.
05:04Like a video where a single girl is shaking the gates of the military headquarters.
05:10In Rawalpindi.
05:11Outside Imran Khan's house in Lahore, many protesters came.
05:15Roadblocks were made.
05:16Tires were set on fire.
05:17Police used water cannons.
05:19And in many cases, tear gas was also used.
05:22Pakistan's current Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, warned that violent protests would not be tolerated.
05:28Many Imran Khan's supporters set fire to cars.
05:31And petrol bombs were also thrown at the current Prime Minister's house.
05:35Pakistan's army gave a statement that these protests would be remembered as a dark chapter in Pakistan's history.
05:42Talking about international reactions,
05:44UK's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called it Pakistan's internal matter.
05:48But on the other hand, the opposition leader in the UK, Jeremy Corbyn, has condemned Imran Khan's arrest.
05:54Countries like America and Canada have not taken any side here.
05:57Instead, they have issued travel advisories to their citizens that it is not safe to go to Pakistan.
06:02A famous human rights international organization, Amnesty International, has strongly condemned what is happening in Pakistan.
06:09Especially, the blockage of the internet.
06:11The access to many social media websites has been cut off.
06:14And the internet has been banned all over the country.
06:17Because of which many common people had to suffer losses.
06:20Now, friends, this political crisis is not the only crisis that Pakistan is facing.
06:24In fact, the economic crisis is also being seen in Pakistan in a horrific way.
06:29Currently, the inflation is at a record high.
06:31Inflation is reaching up to 30%.
06:33It is so expensive that it is expected that the International Monetary Fund will have to bail out Pakistan.
06:39The third problem is that terrorist attacks are being seen in Pakistan.
06:43There was an attack in Pakistan.
06:45Before this, there was an attack on the border of Pakistan-Iran.
06:48In January, there was a horrific explosion in the mosque of Pakistan in which 60 people were killed.
06:53The situation is very unstable.
06:54But here, things are understood a little deeply.
06:57The political game is being played between Imran Khan and the army of Pakistan.
07:01In November 2022, an assassination attempt was also carried out on Imran Khan.
07:06They were marching a protest that someone had fired a bullet at their feet.
07:10Imran Khan raised his finger directly at the Pakistani military
07:13and said that they are being attacked by the Pakistani army.
07:17He said that the major general of ISI, Faisal Nasir,
07:20is conspiring with Prime Minister Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to kill him.
07:26On 7th May, Imran Khan called Faisal Nasir a Dirty Harry.
07:30And Pakistan's army has a media wing called ISPR.
07:34Inter-Services Public Relations.
07:36They strongly criticized Imran Khan's statements.
07:39But Imran Khan insisted on his point.
07:41He repeated the same thing again and again.
07:43Before being arrested, on 9th May, he also said the same thing through video.
07:48ISPR sir, where an institution takes action against its black sheep,
07:54it improves its credibility.
07:56This man tried to kill me twice.
07:59And whenever an investigation will be carried out,
08:01I will prove that he was that man.
08:03And there is a whole gang with him.
08:05Here, I am going to note an interesting thing.
08:07In 2018, when Imran Khan won the elections and became the Prime Minister,
08:11many people believed that he actually became the Prime Minister
08:14with the support of the Pakistani army and military establishment.
08:17I have told you in many earlier videos that the army in Pakistan is very powerful.
08:22For many decades, Pakistan's army ruled directly over Pakistan.
08:26It was seen as a military dictatorship.
08:29But whenever democracy was adopted and other politicians came to power,
08:32it was said that Pakistan's army had an indirect control over the government.
08:38Pakistan's army does not only have a heavy control over the country's politics.
08:41In fact, they also have a lot of influence in the field of business.
08:44They are Pakistan's largest military, largest corporation as well.
08:48Industrial corporation.
08:51It was a funny way to tell people that the military is doing business.
08:53It is said that Pakistan's military was in search of a new face in 2018.
08:58And they got this new face in the form of Imran Khan.
09:01This is why Imran Khan passed many pro-military policies in the first few years.
09:06Many military generals were given important parts of the government to control.
09:10There was a tight control over the media.
09:13There was a heavy crackdown on Imran Khan's opponents.
09:17And many opposition leaders were jailed.
09:20But with time, it is said that Imran Khan lost his favourable position in front of the military
09:25when he lost the No Confidence vote last year.
09:27Since then, Imran Khan has been openly against the military.
09:30And since the recent assassination attempt on him,
09:33he has been directly pointing fingers at the Pakistan army
09:36and saying that they are trying to kill him.
09:39Actually, it is believed that the Pakistan army does not like it
09:44when any political leader becomes so popular
09:47that he starts overshadowing the military establishment.
09:50Whenever Pakistan's former prime ministers tried to take a stand against the Pakistan army,
09:55the result was very bad for them.
09:58Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was hanged in 1979
10:02after a controversial trial by the military dictatorship of Pakistan.
10:07His daughter Benazir Bhutto, another military dictatorship,
10:10put him on house arrest.
10:12And a few weeks after the house arrest, he was assassinated.
10:16Nawaz Sharif, when Imran Khan was the prime minister,
10:19he was jailed.
10:22The influence of the military is also said to be behind this.
10:25The history of military dictatorships in Pakistan is so long
10:28that it was the first time in 1970 that general elections were held in Pakistan.
10:33Compare this to India.
10:35Both countries got independence in the same year
10:37but India's first general election was held in 1951.
10:41It took almost 20 years in Pakistan to conduct elections.
10:45So if we look at it this way, India's history has been very golden in this matter.
10:49We saw a peaceful transfer of power one after the other in the prime ministers.
10:54You can say that the problems with Imran Khan's military started in 2019.
10:59The chief of ISI was General Asim Munir.
11:01It is said that he was investigating corruption allegations against Imran Khan.
11:06And Imran Khan terminated his tenure.
11:09A new chief of ISI was appointed.
11:11But what happened was that in November 2022,
11:13Pakistan's army made General Asim Munir the Chief of Staff of the army.
11:18That is, made him the head of the army.
11:20Today, Pakistan's establishment is after Imran Khan in a bad way.
11:25They are trying to suppress, arrest and maybe even kill Imran Khan.
11:30But it would not be wrong to say that when Imran Khan himself was in the position of Prime Minister,
11:34he had a chance to change the system.
11:36He had a chance to reduce the influence of Pakistan's military.
11:40To try to set up a new healthy democracy.
11:44But he didn't do that.
11:46Now the question arises, what will happen next?
11:48Will Pakistan's military establishment, like the rest, suppress and kill Imran Khan?
11:53Or will Imran Khan be successful due to his protests and his supporters?
11:58To destroy the power of Pakistan's army.
12:00If we look at history, in such cases, we have always seen a military coup in Pakistan.
12:06The military says that enough of this drama of democracy.
12:09Now if I want to control things, I will have to become a dictator.
12:12So far, four military coups have been seen in Pakistan.
12:151953, 1958, 1977, 1999.
12:20Apart from this, there have been three unsuccessful coup attempts.
12:231951, 1980 and 1995.
12:272008 was the most recent year when Pakistan was under military dictatorship.
12:31And since then, thankfully, democracy has been formed.
12:35The protests that are taking place in Pakistan today,
12:37it cannot be denied that this is the first time that the common public
12:41has seen so much anger against Pakistan's military.
12:45And Imran Khan's tremendous popularity is another reason that
12:48the military might not be as strong as it used to be.
12:52Apart from Imran Khan's political career,
12:54another reason behind his popularity is when he was a cricket player.
12:58He had won the World Cup for Pakistan.
13:00Only once has Pakistan won the World Cup in cricket.
13:03And that was when Imran Khan was a cricketer.
13:05This is why it is said that if a military coup is attempted by Pakistan's military,
13:10then the response from the public can be even stronger.
13:14On the other hand, if a military coup is not attempted and elections are held,
13:18then many experts believe that obviously Imran Khan will win these elections.
13:23Because I knew I was saved.
13:24And what about now? I mean, are you scared?
13:26Well, I mean, the threat of assassination is probably even more now than before.
13:33Because the three people who I knew were responsible for this,
13:37they are still sitting in power.
13:39And they are probably more worried now than ever before.
13:42Because all indications are that whenever there are elections,
13:45my party is going to sweep the elections.
13:47And if this happens, what will they do after winning the elections?
13:50This will also be very interesting to watch.
13:52But if they don't win the elections,
13:54or if there is some mischief in the elections,
13:57or if a military coup is attempted,
13:59then it will not be good for the stability of Pakistan in the coming days.
14:04Many people have already started demanding early elections.
14:07For now, elections have been planned.
14:09It will be in October 2023.
14:11If we talk about the arrest now,
14:13Imran Khan finally got relief from the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
14:16The Supreme Court declared his arrest illegal.
14:19And because of this, he was released on bail on May 12.
14:23Because of this, protests have reduced to a large extent for now.
14:26And the celebrations have changed.
14:28People are celebrating on the streets.
14:30And now we will have to see what happens next.
14:33If you liked the video, you can click here and watch the 1971 war video.
14:37In which I have explained the history of Pakistan and Bangladesh in detail.
14:40Exactly what was the reason that the military was able to become so powerful in Pakistan?
14:45And what was the reason for the partition of Pakistan and the birth of Bangladesh?
14:49Everyone can understand in this video.
14:51Thank you very much.
