Giant pandas Xin Bao and Yun Chuan make debut at San Diego Zoo

00:05will be here and of course these are the first pandas to enter. California is known as the golden

00:11state and Xin Bao, Xin, the first character in the name of Xin Bao is made up of three Jing,

00:20the character for gold. Her name means a treasure of prosperity and abundance and we hope she will

00:28bring you good luck to California, to San Diego. We hope the arrival of the pandas will inject

00:38fresh impetus into exchanges between China and California

00:43and help to stabilize the broader bilateral relationship as well.

00:58It is about people to people not just panda to panda. At the end of the day what this is really

01:02about is all of us. It's about the fact we share this same short moment in life. As the ambassador

01:10was saying this is about exchange. This is about understanding. This is about something much

01:16deeper, much richer than just the two beautiful pandas we celebrate. It's about celebrating

01:24our common humanity. It's about celebrating the things that bind us together.
