00:00I had just discovered that Echoplex, that when you play, the tape goes round, but once
00:26it goes around after a certain amount of time, you can add another guitar to it, and
00:33then you can add another guitar to it, and wow, that was amazing.
00:53I just made up a chord progression, and then I played, the loop goes round, harmony, and
01:09so on, and I went like, wow, this is great, you know, it sounded so good.
01:23I recorded it on this cheap, you know, tape recorder I had, and on the way to Christmas
01:34with Phil and the others, I remember at the Undercon station, on the escalator, I switched
01:42it on, and said, hey, listen to this, wow, that sounds great, hey, Michael, can we meet
01:50somewhere?
01:51Can we meet?
01:52And so Phil came over to my place, I just moved in there, basically, and he came into
01:57my place, and I remember I had a table here, Phil's sitting over there, I'm sitting over
02:04here, so he wanted me to play the chords without the guitar, so that he had something to figure
02:11out the melody for his vocals and stuff like that, and so that's what I did, and then he
02:15took it home, and then basically, we have done that with quite a few songs in general,
02:22you know, that was kind of our, I would come, Try Me was done exactly the same way, I wrote
02:27an instrumental, and it ended up so good that Phil wanted to take out the instrumental and
02:35just let him hear the chords and see what he can come up with, and then he would come
02:39up with something really good, and then we just started him singing over the same chords
02:44until we got, you know, after two verses and choruses, we inserted the instrumental part
02:51of the song.
02:52Living, I'm on the run, so far away from you and you and you.
02:59Living, I'm on the run, so far away from you.
03:07Ooh, yeah, baby.
03:20You know, to be honest, Doctor, Doctor, I'm not really sure how well people took that
03:28song in the beginning, and I didn't focus on it either, I mean, you know, we were playing
03:34gigs, I wasn't there for Doctor, Doctor, I was there because I enjoyed, you know, playing
03:39and playing lead guitar and so on, and, you know, took about 10 years before Doctor, Doctor
03:47did anything, really, because I think once it came, once it made it on the live album,
03:53I think that's when it took off.
03:55Living, I'm on the run, so far away from you.
