00:00We are unequivocally collective in our determination to say no to racism and to stand firmly united in
00:07terms of what we see unfolding in front of us. There is no place in our society for racism in
00:13any of its forms and the racist attacks on people and businesses and homes are absolutely wrong.
00:20They are and have created such a deep fear, a fear that I think perhaps none of us have ever seen
00:26before right out there among many parts of our community and we have many people now feeling
00:32extremely vulnerable, feeling very fearful, fearful for their families and we say very
00:36clearly today to those members of the minority communities here, those that have come and built
00:41their lives here, those that have been born here, those who this is their home, we say very very
00:46clearly to them that we value you, that we see you, that we stand firm against racism and that
00:51we have no truck with those people out there that are inciting hatred and we want them to feel that
00:56message strongly today. Listen I think we all watched last Monday in horror as we saw the
01:02events unfold in Southport and the attack against these poor girls just going to a dance class.
01:10I have to say I was concerned as to whether there would be a response to that
01:15and it soon became apparent online that lies, misinformation, absolute nonsense was being put
01:22out there. That has led to what we've seen in recent days across the country, across northern
01:29towns and cities, scenes that none of us, nobody, nobody can want. The families of those little
01:36girls who these rioters probably couldn't name Alice, Bebe or Elsie Dot, they probably know who they are
01:42and their families don't want any of this and then to see what we've seen in Belfast
01:48is absolutely disgraceful. The PSNI will deal with this disorder. Those people who come out
01:58to commit these hateful crimes will be pursued with the full force of the law.
