00:00Elon Musk and Tesla announced a while back that they were working on building a humanoid
00:08robot.
00:09One that would take the world by storm.
00:10Well we're not sure about the world, but recently Musk wrote on X that Tesla will have
00:14genuinely useful humanoid robots in low production for Tesla internal use next year.
00:20But why?
00:21Well no one is exactly sure.
00:22And are humanoid robots really that useful?
00:24Boston Dynamics has taken strides in recent years showing off their acrobatic automatons,
00:28each equipped with some sort of navigation AI.
00:31However robots that walk around on two legs with two arms have some serious challenges
00:35from an engineering point of view.
00:37Not to mention human arms and hands are not developed specifically for manufacturing and
00:41other tasks.
00:42Some argue that our world is built for us and as robots become more integrated into
00:45our societies, it would make sense to build them to be more accommodated as well.
00:50That includes our tools, which could eventually be used by these artificial intelligences.
00:54Tesla's robot optimist certainly feels like the future, despite not being shown off much
00:58recently.
00:59Compared to other offerings, Optimus looks and moves in a more human way and features
01:03a more human-like form factor.
01:05But can the EV manufacturer pull it off?
01:07I guess we'll see in the future.
