00:00The fact we didn't see the disorder that was feared is because we had police deployed in numbers in the right places, giving reassurance to communities.
00:10We were able to demonstrate the criminal justice system working speedily.
00:14So yesterday you saw the sentencing of individuals who'd been involved in disorder days ago, some of them getting sentences as long as three years.
00:22That sent a very powerful message.
00:24But I also think that the work that's been done jointly to reassure our communities is becoming more effective.
00:31Now it's important that we don't let up here, and that's why later on today I'll have another COBRA meeting.
00:37We need to make sure that in the coming days we can give the necessary reassurance to our communities, many of whom, I've been talking to some this morning, are very anxious about the situation.
00:46And also, it looks like the relations are good. I mean, you had a little bit of trouble the other night, but it was all pretty easy.
00:53Ten years ago we had peace heads from the opening, and we had open windows, and it was a little bit of tension at the beginning.
01:00Number one consideration, that all our communities feel safe.
01:06Safe and secure, and obviously that's been effective and impacted.
01:12All of you and Community Heal will have been impacted by the disorder that has been going on.
01:17Communities themselves, I think, have shown who we really are as communities and as a country, particularly last night.
01:25And that is the true face of our communities.
