00:00Some people say it's kept me alive. I've just found it very good and they've always offered me the thing that if I have a problem I can pick up the phone and get through to either one of the doctors or Judith.
00:15The Cardiac Centre allows us to see the sickest patients the quickest and to avoid hospital admissions.
00:21They may be here for a bit longer than they would for a traditional clinic appointment but that means that they get all their assessment, investigations and early management options done in one day.
00:34So hopefully it means that patients aren't coming up to hospital as often and they get answers on the day of the appointment rather than being sent away with tests and then being brought back for that.
00:47The idea I suppose is to try and make it more efficient in a one stop shop.
00:54It also means that if people are here for a bit of a longer time sometimes they think of questions or other things that they wouldn't think of in a 15 minute appointment but because we are sort of about throughout the day they can ask us and we can go over things and reiterate anything that's been missed or misunderstood.
01:11We would see approximately 2,500 people a year and that varies on a day to day service. Sometimes you can get a lot more and we bring in just accordingly and everybody works as a great member of the team.
01:23Rather than having to make multiple journeys to the hospital for their different tests they're getting them done on the same day and if we can provide a diagnosis that day we will provide it and obviously the correct treatment they're getting started on sooner rather than later.
01:37They're all very friendly, again prepared to talk to you not at you, listen to what I have to say and take into consideration what I have to say and I wouldn't be maybe the best patient so that puts me at ease if that makes sense.
01:59I think it's a tremendous facility, tremendous facility. I hope people don't have to use it but if you have to use it it works well.
