00:00Over 400 people now have been arrested, 100 have been charged, some in relation to online
00:22activity and a number of them are already in court and I'm now expecting substantive
00:27sentencing before the end of this week. That should send a very powerful message to anybody
00:33involved, either directly or online, that you are likely to be dealt with within a week
00:39and that nobody, but nobody, should be involving themselves in this disorder.
00:57Online comments can have a huge influence on offline behaviour and we've seen that in the
01:21past in so many instances, so I think it's really important for the policy makers and
01:25also the tech firms to start to understand that this wrong idea of a dualism between
01:31the online and the offline needs to be tackled and also that there need to be different policy
01:36measures to clamp down on online hate speech or on promoting disinformation and hate speech.
