00:00Namaskara.
00:01I think Ranjeet, Daniel and Aarti, I'm sorry, Malavika kind of explained what I wanted to
00:15say.
00:16I've started calling her Aarti actually.
00:18I've stopped calling her Malavika to notice.
00:21I've been saying this, you know that, like she says, 100% is cool, sometimes 200%, 300%
00:28is also not enough when you're committed to a movie and you want to do something very
00:33different and spectacular.
00:34My life, I've done every film like that, but I say to her, you know, you have Aparajit,
00:42Onion, or you have Ai, or you have Ravan.
00:45These are all movies that I really, you know, Pitamagan, the movies that I really worked
00:50and they worked on me and it was very difficult.
00:53They're the most difficult movies anybody can make.
00:56But compared to this movie, I always say that it was only 8%.
01:00That's it.
01:01He killed us.
01:02Every shot, he killed us.
01:04It's not like, like I'm not exaggerating because you may think that fight sequence,
01:08whenever you see Malavika and me fighting, it was difficult.
01:11But apart from that, Daniel and I have a scene that will be so difficult.
01:16And it is not about the fights.
01:18When Parvati is there, she's my wife.
01:21That again is, even if it's a romantic scene, it's not a romantic scene.
01:25It's a violent romantic scene or I'm not talking about violence and everything.
01:28I'm saying there's performance.
01:30Even if it was something that was very, very, what do you say, very sensitive,
01:34we had to try really hard to be those characters because none of them behave like us.
01:39We have been, you know, we've become cultured.
01:41We are so civilized.
01:42See, I'm standing like this and talking.
01:44Maybe then I will be squatting and, you know, it's very different.
01:47I'll be like, you know, the way I stand will be very different.
01:49So everything had to be, first of all, from the body language to the way we even think
01:53had to change for this film.
01:54So every scene I felt like there was no scene where, you know, you can think,
01:59today is a light scene.
02:00Every scene, I swear, when you see the movie, I mean, when you see the trailer,
02:04you understand every shot is like that.
02:06And all of us had to perform.
02:08The most beautiful thing is you said it very beautifully.
02:10I mean, you said a lot of things that I was surprised that you seem to know so much.
02:13Of course, we spoke to you earlier.
02:16The performances, he's got artists.
02:21Every actor in this movie is a performer of some sort.
02:25Maybe I'm the only one who cheats a little and does the homework and comes.
02:28But everybody, starting from all the way from London, there's a gentleman here called Daniel.
02:32Aarti, Parvati and Vasupathi.
02:36We have Hari, we have so many of them.
02:39And in this movie, we didn't have junior artists.
02:42We didn't have supporting actors.
02:44We had only characters.
02:46Everybody was like a drama artist.
02:48Or he's gone to drama schools and picked them up.
02:50There was auditions.
02:51So every single one of them you saw in the frame, they will all act.
02:54And all of them got hurt.
02:55Even the women.
02:56It's not just the men.
02:58Because those times were like that.
02:59What is so beautiful about this film is we had to live like them.
03:03It was not just the dress.
03:05We had to actually live like them to bring across that emotion.
03:08And I think the only way we could have done that is to be them.
03:11We couldn't have acted.
03:12So maybe the first few days, all of us had teething problems.
03:15But once we started, once we got into it,
03:18we all became, we went back so many hundreds of years ago.
03:21And it was beautiful.
03:23And I just want to add that this movie is a very raw,
03:27it's a very, very, very raw film.
03:30But at the same time, it's a very exciting film to have worked in and to even watch.
03:34From the trailer, you can understand.
03:36It's not a film that's like, it's only about poverty or it's only about drama.
03:40It's not that.
03:41It's something exciting happening always.
03:43And he has somehow, in that reality, he's done a little bit of magical reality
03:48where he's woven a little bit of fantasy into it, which is believable.
03:52And at the same time, at one point, you don't know what is fantasy, what is reality.
03:56And it was such an honor working with you, Ranjit.
03:59I think he's one of the most promising and most dedicated directors in India,
04:04not just anywhere else.
04:06Ranjit, I wanted to say about the Kannada films.
04:11He said everything that was going on in my mind.
04:14I love your films.
04:16The four films that you mentioned were the films I saw.
04:19In fact, side A and side B, I even called up Rakshit and told him.
04:22I started the film and I was thinking, it was actually 10 o'clock.
04:26I started watching and then I said, let's see tomorrow.
04:29Then I said, no, no, what happens to this guy?
04:33I went back and watched the whole thing and I called him up the next day.
04:36I said, I watched it and I wanted to call up everybody in the movie and tell them.
04:39It was so good.
04:41And Kantara, I had to add.
04:43When we started the film, Kantara hadn't been released.
04:45Like when KJF wasn't.
04:47When he had started thinking about the film.
04:49And I was only into this role and what we can do with this film.
04:52And God, we should make this somehow reach the audience and go there.
04:56And Kantara, like how Bahubali came and just opened doors.
05:00I mean, there was a lot of films like Giyans and Aparjith.
05:03A lot of films have already reached across the borders.
05:06But Bahubali came and opened doors.
05:08And then KJF made it even bigger.
05:10Pushed the doors open more and all over.
05:12But Kantara came in and said, listen, even a movie with content can make an impact.
05:17And something that is so steeped in mythology, which is only restricted to Mangalore.
05:22Was actually reaching people across the globe.
05:26That suddenly, that was in the middle of our shoot.
05:29And I thought, wow, that means we don't have to try so hard.
05:32People have changed and the way they are watching movies is very different.
05:35I just wanted to add that.
05:37And I would like to tell you that I love the Kannada films that are happening right now.
05:40Maybe someday we will do a Kannada film soon.
05:42I am just thinking.
05:44Because even before I used to think, why haven't I read Kannada?
05:47I have done Malayalam, I have done Telugu.
05:49When I used to struggle, I have done everything.
05:51I didn't go out of Kannada, I was just thinking.
05:53I would love to do Prashant.
05:55Everybody is at another level.
05:57It would be lovely to work with you guys.
05:59Thank you for being here and being so patient.
06:02Got a little late to come and I am so sorry.
06:04I hadn't had food all day and I was a little hungry.
06:06It was my fault, not my crew.
06:08And I have to add that I have also worked with some really exceptional talents.
06:14Like Malavika, Danny, Parvati, Pasupathi and all of them.
06:18And I won't say, I know you are going to ask a lot of questions.
06:22I will see you on the other side.
06:24You have said so passionately about Kannada films.
06:28It's beautiful. Thank you so much.
06:30I am really happy to see you in Kannada films.
06:34I feel like a man with long beard.
06:36You know how many people are watching movies with just subtitles.
06:38Nobody wants to watch dubbed films anymore.
06:40And also, I think India is a beautiful country which welcomes every language.
06:44And every language is our language, right?
06:46We are all cousins.
06:48We could act in any film.
06:50And we have amazing cousins.
06:52Thank you. Thank you so much, sir.
06:54Please be seated.
07:50Matching with your dress.
07:52Okay.
