00:00I know you're very busy with the DSWD, so we'll start with you since you've been gone for a while.
00:07You have a lot to tell us, right, Usec Edu?
00:10I mean, we've seen how busy you've been the past, you know, month, actually.
00:15That's right, partner.
00:17DSWD has been tasked for the relief and recovery operations
00:22for the victims of Hurricane Karina and Hurricane Habagat.
00:27We've seen the devastation it caused in three regions,
00:33primarily in NCR Region 3 and 4A in Calabarzon.
00:38You know, partner, according to our data,
00:41we've reported 5.4 million of our countrymen,
00:455.4 million individuals affected by Hurricane Karina and Hurricane Habagat last month.
00:51That's equivalent to 1.5 million families across the regions of NCR,
00:58Region 1, 2, 3, Calabarzon, Lima, Ropa, Region 5, 6, 7, 10, and CAR.
01:05We have 4,510 affected barangays,
01:11and up to now, partner, there are still 100 active evacuation centers
01:16where there are more than 11,000 individuals remaining.
01:20When it comes to relief operations, as we know,
01:24DSWD is already fast in providing relief items to our countrymen
01:29because under the administration of President Bongbong Marcos,
01:34our relief items are prepositioned,
01:36our family food packs and non-food relief items.
01:40So, in total, we were able to distribute, partner,
01:44the DSWD of more than P340 million pesos,
01:48both in cash and non-cash assistance to those affected by Hurricane Karina and Hurricane Habagat.
01:53And this will continue.
01:54Our post-disaster relief and assistance operations
02:01will continue to provide relief to our countrymen in Lagta.
02:05So, there are still 11,000, right, Usec?
02:09They are in the evacuation centers now.
02:12Where are most of them located?
02:15Most of them remain here in Region 3 and the Calabarzon area.
02:20And a total of 2,857 families, as we have recorded,
02:25remain in our evacuation centers.
02:29And the DSWD continues to provide local government units
02:33with food assistance, relief items,
02:38clothing, sleeping and bathing equipment,
02:41and even cash assistance.
02:43How long do you think they will remain in the evacuation centers?
02:49And why haven't they returned to their homes yet?
02:54Our policy there, partner, is that the local government must ensure
02:58that their homes are safe.
03:03According to our records,
03:05the homes of these communities are not yet cleared.
03:10And if you can remember, partner,
03:12after Hurricane Karina and Hurricane Habagat,
03:14it continued to rain, partner.
03:16So, here in NCR, we saw that even last week up to this week,
03:20there were still floods.
03:22So, our authorities are still taking care
03:26to ensure the safety of our countrymen.
03:28All right.
03:29Good luck to you in the DSWD.
03:32You still have a lot to do.
03:33You still have a food stamp program.
03:35This is different from our relief operations, right?
03:39Yes.
03:40With regard to Hurricane Karina and Hurricane Habagat.
03:43Yes, partner.
03:44Okay.
03:45Thank you very much, Edu,
03:47for sharing updates with us from you and the DSWD.
