00:03Unemployment is one of the reasons why nurses in the public health sector

00:08are leaving their services and emigrating abroad,

00:14said the United Nations.

00:15Out of a total of 500 workers who have left their services since a decade ago,

00:20Malaya Nurses Association President Saidah Athman said

00:24the situation has been going on for a long time and needs to be addressed immediately

00:28to avoid future crisis.

00:32She said the situation is driving nurses to build their success abroad

00:37by offering higher salaries and better facilities.

00:41She also agrees with Senator Dr. R. E. Linggiswaran's statement

00:46that the job of a nurse is becoming more difficult, dangerous and very burdensome

00:51in addition to facing a situation in the hospital where patients are at risk.

00:55Linggiswaran, who is also a former director of Sungai Bakar Hospital, said

00:59nurses are the backbone of the hospital and stressed

01:02the loss of experienced members is not a good sign

01:06for the country's health care system.

01:09Minister of Health Zulkifli Ahmad at the State Council hearing last month said

01:14since 2014, 5,009 staff nurses

01:18and 769 public nurses have chosen

01:21to either leave or resign from government services.
