Learn About The Changes To Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Entrance and Car Parking

00:00Hi, I'm Matthew Neil, I'm the Director of the Hospital Transformation Programme for SATH.

00:05I'm Dr Ed Reisdale, Emergency Medicine Consultant and Clinical Lead for the Hospital Transformation Programme.

00:10So here today we're outside the treatment centre entrance at the back of the hospital

00:14and this for the next few years is going to be the main entrance to the hospital for those

00:17patients coming in either to the treatment centre but more importantly to outpatients or to x-ray.

00:21So this is going to be the new main entrance for the next few years until the hospital

00:24transformation has completed and the new build is opened later in 2027.

00:28We currently have lots of groundworks ongoing with our construction partner which is a joint

00:34venture between Sir Robert McAlpine and Vinci Construction. They will start digging into the

00:39ground, they'll also start looking at services. Whilst they're doing that we will be diverting

00:44traffic around the site and a new road has been implemented for our patients, our public, our staff

00:50to navigate around the site safely away from the construction traffic.

00:54For coming into outpatients go through to the back of hospital so past the construction site

00:58and keep going and then the main car park for public and patients is at the back of the site

01:02now by the treatment centre. If you need to go to the Copthorne Centre for children's outpatients

01:07or for our renal unit or for the ophthalmics that's still open and the first car park on

01:12the right hand side will come into there and then there is another car park outside the ward block

01:16for those patients who are inpatients in the ward block that's going to be outside there as well.

01:21But the advice I give if you're not sure where you're going to go please look at the website

01:24first and plan to see where you're going to go. There is the largest public car park for the

01:29hospital site is now at the back of the hospital outside the treatment centre there's disabled

01:32spaces there as well and it is the largest public car park we have on site now.
