01:00The government has decided to move bus stops out of the city and provide free shuttle service to passengers.
01:13What are the areas from where the shuttle service will start?
01:18The shuttle service will start from Saddar, Al Karim Square and other squares.
01:28The shuttle service will start from Saddar, Al Karim Square and other squares.
01:40The shuttle service will start from Saddar, Al Karim Square and other squares.
01:48The shuttle service will start from Saddar, Al Karim Square and other squares.
01:53Sanjay Sadwani, thank you so much for being with us.
01:55Let's talk to the senior minister of Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Mehman.
02:00Thank you so much for joining us, Sharjeel.
02:02One thing is that it is very important that this has been done.
02:05I used to see that there are some bus services that used to provide shuttle service from Saddar.
02:11Either from Saurabh Ghat or beyond that, where there used to be bus stops.
02:16From there, passengers used to commute to other cities.
02:20Now, the system that you have started, will the government facilitate this?
02:25What will be the procedure for this?
02:28Hello.
02:30Yes, Sharjeel, did my question reach you?
02:32Assalam-o-Alaikum.
02:33Assalam-o-Alaikum.
02:35Sorry.
02:36Were you able to hear my question?
02:38Sorry, can you please repeat it?
02:40Okay, I was basically saying that we have been seeing this initiative from the government.
02:45So, even before this, we used to see that there are some transport companies in Saddar
02:49that used to provide shuttle service to their passengers from Saurabh Ghat or beyond that,
02:53where there used to be big terminals, to reach there.
02:55Now, how will the government facilitate this to other bus companies?
03:01How will it facilitate the passengers?
03:04Bismillah-ur-Rehman-ur-Rahim. Thank you.
03:06I would like to make it clear that this shuttle service is being started for the first time.
03:10And it is being done free of cost.
03:12Okay.
03:13What used to happen was that whenever big buses and coaches used to go to the countryside,
03:19I mean, they used to go out of Karachi.
03:21They used to go to Chennai in the morning.
03:23They used to go to Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
03:25Wherever they used to go, they used to go to the city.
03:27There are 3-4 main stops in the city.
03:29They used to go there.
03:31So, to go to such big buses, there used to be a lot of traffic nuisance.
03:36So, in the current situation, the transport company tried to minimize the traffic.
03:48And then we started this shuttle service for them.
03:51So, this shuttle service is being started.
03:53InshaAllah, from 14th August, we are providing this service to all the people of Karachi.
03:59So that whoever has come here from Pakistan,
04:02if they want to go to the countryside,
04:04then this free shuttle service will be provided to them.
04:07It will pick them up from these 3 stops.
04:10And then it will drop them to the bus terminal.
04:17And then they will go ahead.
04:20Mr. Sherjil, as our representatives were also reporting,
04:25a police check post will also be made at the Karachi bus terminal
04:28so that the safety of passengers is ensured.
04:31So, all these check posts will be made at the places where the shuttle service will be provided?
04:38Yes, absolutely.
04:40The check posts here are made at the main bus terminal,
04:46Al-Aqsa Bus Terminal.
04:49We are trying to make it a state-of-the-art.
04:53Because currently, there is no facility for toilets in any bus terminal.
04:57Okay.
04:58So, check posts have been set up here.
05:01And important facilities are also needed for toilets and other facilities for passengers.
05:08So, check posts and other facilities are set up there.
05:13Mr. Sherjil, there is one more thing.
05:15If we talk about Al-Karam Square or Sadr,
05:19then the buses from different areas of Hyderabad,
05:23Interior and Punjab are running there every hour.
05:26Will this shuttle service run every hour?
05:29What will be the timings for this?
05:30What will be the procedure?
05:31We have seen a very good solution for this.
05:33The solution is that the shuttle will leave after every 10 minutes.
05:37Okay.
05:38So, passengers will not have to wait.
05:40So, alright.
05:41After every 10 minutes, the shuttle will leave.
05:43And the passengers will be on time.
05:45Absolutely on time.
05:47There may be some problems in the beginning.
05:50When you start something, there are some new challenges.
05:53So, our effort is that it should be on time.
05:57We provide the best service to the passengers.
06:01So, we are going to start it in Karachi.
06:06And how much difference will the traffic flow make?
06:09What is the estimate for the Sindh government?
06:11We have put an average that there are around 300 buses
06:17that come to the city for the whole of Pakistan.
06:22When those 300 buses come, the size of the bus increases.
06:25Its speed also increases.
06:27And when it stops, the traffic passes through the bus.
06:33So, it occupies a very large space.
06:37So, after this whole service,
06:41it will have a very effective effect.
06:45Because when we did this exercise,
06:47we also took the support of the traffic police.
06:50The DIG of the traffic police is with us in all these exercises.
06:58He helped us a lot.
07:00So, this decision was made
07:02on the proposals of the traffic police and the needs of the passengers.
07:06One more thing is that what will be the number of the shuttles?
07:10And secondly, how much will the government have to bear on this?
07:15We have made a model of a public-private partnership.
07:20The government does not have to bear any expenses.
07:23This is a good news.
07:25The government is not spending any money on this.
07:27From the main bus stop,
07:31the people who have the operation,
07:34they are asked to run the shuttle service.
07:37And we have made sure that the passengers benefit from it.
07:42So, the passengers do not have to pay double the expense.
07:44That you are paying separate money for the shuttle service,
07:46and you are paying for it separately.
07:48So, the model that we have made,
07:50the transporter is also benefiting from it.
07:52When a transporter comes to the city with a heavy bus,
07:55because of the speed of the city,
07:57and the amount of fuel it spends,
07:59it saves a lot of fuel.
08:02And their costs are also reducing.
08:04So, we have set an average that
08:06if a bus goes to the city,
08:08the cost of the shuttle service is Rs.25,000.
08:12So, the transparency will also be there,
08:15that the ticket will be issued to the passenger,
08:17then he will sit in the shuttle and go there.
08:19So, it will be convenient and transparent.
08:23Exactly.
