Taiwan bagged its first gold of the Olympics over the weekend thanks to men's badminton duo Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin who successfully defended their Tokyo Olympics title. Elsewhere, there were bronze medals in shooting and boxing, with further medals guaranteed in two other boxing divisions.

00:10Taiwan has made it to the Olympic medal table, with one gold, two bronze, and more to come.
00:16For the country's first gold, Taiwan claimed it in the men's double badminton.
00:21The Tokyo Olympic champions Li Yang and Wang Qilin defended their title.
00:26They defeated their Chinese opponents two games to one in a closely fought match that lasted for over 70 minutes.
00:33Their victory comes after two bronze, thanks to boxer Wu Shiyi and ski tutor Li Mengyuan.
00:40As for the guaranteed medals, boxer Chen Yuanqing and Lin Yunqing will be competing in the semifinals
00:47in the women's 66kg category and 57kg category.
00:52For sure, they'll get bronze, because in boxing, there's no such thing as a third place match.
00:57And for Monday, all eyes are on gymnast Tang Jiahong, who is set to compete in the men's final in the men's horizontal bar.
01:05For Tang, this is his second time to the Olympics, and making it to the finals means a lot to him.
01:11He previously recovered from his Achilles tendon injury and has not been competing for seven months.
01:17He missed out on the 2023 World Championships and the Asian Games.
01:22Also on Monday, team Taiwan will be competing in the men's double table tennis and also outside on the tracks.
01:29Later this week, the athletes will compete in boxing, weightlifting and taekwondo.
