00:13This is the first live news of Denise Abangte of GMA Regional TV.
00:19Denise.
00:21Several hog growers in Batangas City are being extra careful to avoid the spread of the disease.
00:27This is the first live news of Denise Abangte of GMA Regional TV.
00:37Currently, there are less than 20 hogs operating in the barangay Sorosoro Ibaba, Batangas City, according to the local government.
00:45They are being extra careful in securing biosecurity and obtaining permits for the hogs,
00:50based on the latest reports of African Swine Fever cases in Batangas Province.
00:54All the biosecurity is being checked.
00:57All the trucks that enter the barangay are being disinfected at the animal checkpoint at the entry point of Sorosoro Ibaba.
01:06Even though the ESF has yet to issue a report in Batangas City, the hog racer Larry is still worried.
01:12It has a big effect.
01:14It's one of the reasons why my son is studying.
01:20It's number one in terms of food.
01:23Even if it grows, sometimes there are losses because it's expensive to feed.
01:31The Batangas Provincial Veterinary Office is not yet sure where the ESF virus came from and how it spread.
01:37But there is a high possibility that it came from vehicles or people themselves.
01:42Our investigation is ongoing to find out where this virus came from.
01:50But usually, the chances of infected pigs entering the barangay are very high.
01:59Also, our fomites, vehicles and infected items, even people themselves can be infected by the virus.
02:09Along with the heightened biosecurity of the pigs in the barangay,
02:13the delivery trucks that carry the pigs are not allowed to enter and exit the barangay
02:19because they need to show their acceptance certificate and barangay permit first.
02:24The National Meat Inspection Service is closely monitoring the situation.
02:28Before we receive it, it has a shipping permit, veterinary health certificate.
02:33At the same time, ESF-free certificate.
02:36From BAHI, we are asking NMIS and LGU about the localities and provinces that are affected.
02:46We are making sure that no one can enter and no one can leave those affected areas.
02:53The Batangas Provincial Veterinary Office has not yet released the number of cases recorded in each barangay of four towns and one city
03:01that were first confirmed to have positive cases of ESF.
03:10Let's check the price of pork.
03:12It can be purchased here in Batangas City from P340 to P370 per kilo.
03:19Thank you very much, Denise Abante of GMA Regional TV.
