"I spend $17k on travelling a year - and leave my boyfriend at home"

  • last month
A woman has spent $17k on travelling this year alone and leaves her boyfriend at home to go on solo trips.

Skylie Shore, 21, has loved travelling since she was a teenager and now prioritises it over anything else.

This year she has been to five countries and done four solo trips - spending $7k.

Skylie is leaving her boyfriend, Stephen Pogorilich, 24, behind at the end of August for a two month trip around Europe, Japan and Canada - costing her a further $10k.

The pair still love to take trips together but travel obsessed Skylie doesn't want a relationship holding her back from exploring the world.

00:00Hey guys, here is my four day Switzerland itinerary.
00:18So I arrived in Wengen, Switzerland, which was my home base, Friday around noon.
00:23I checked into my hotel, explored Wengen, grabbed some food and did a few hikes.
00:28I went to bed early after my long travel day and I was ready for day two.
00:32Day two, I went to Lauterbrunnen and guys, it looks straight out of a picture book.
00:36I climbed behind Staubach Falls and walked through Lauterbrunnen Valley.
00:39I sat at the Weisslutschen River and then headed to Trommelbach Falls, which is a bunch
00:42of waterfalls in a cave and super cool.
00:45Day three, I went to Grindelwald.
00:47This was my favorite day yet.
00:48I went to Grindelwald first and I took the cable car up.
00:52I did the cliff walk, zip lining and mountain carting.
00:55I got a mountain side Aperol Spritz and enjoyed the views before walking over to Fingstead
00:59and doing the mountain coaster and this day was so much fun.
01:03Day four, I went to Interlaken and took the funicular up to Harder Kolm.
01:07The views were absolutely crazy and I got the iconic Swiss fondue.
01:11To be honest, I was not the biggest fan, but it's okay.
01:13I headed down and walked around downtown Interlaken.
01:16I'm obsessed and want to live here.
01:18Then I went paragliding, which was so amazing and relaxing.
01:22Those were my fun filled four days.
01:25Everyone tells you you have to go to Switzerland for at least a week and I just proved them
01:28wrong.
01:29Bye.
01:30Hey guys, if you're looking for the perfect solo travel destination, then stop scrolling.
01:36Switzerland is my favorite solo travel destination and here's why.
01:40So I felt so safe while traveling in Switzerland, way safer than I do here in the U.S.
01:45No stairs, cat calling, everyone really minds their own business.
01:49You do not feel lonely solo traveling here.
01:51There is so much to do and the nature is so breathtaking.
01:54It's really like one of a kind.
01:56You can go on hikes, see waterfalls, pet the cows, go paragliding, take a cable car, go
02:01mountain carting, and so much more.
02:04The public transportation is so easy to use and navigate.
02:08The trains are so clean and timely.
02:10You do not need to rent a car or taxi here.
02:12I found everyone to be so friendly and helpful, especially the locals.
02:16The owners of the hotel I stayed at were so sweet and almost everyone speaks English.
02:20You can also use your card and Apple Pay literally everywhere.
02:24Switzerland is definitely one of my favorite countries in general, but I think it's the
02:28perfect solo travel destination, especially for a beginner or first time solo traveler.
02:33Bye!
