00:00It was a very difficult time.
00:03I think I learned the biggest lesson of my life
00:08which was to live the last months of my mom's life.
00:13I already knew that the outcome was going to be very fast,
00:16or maybe it wasn't going to be so fast,
00:18but I was going to leave her without mobility at any time.
00:23So we learned to live one day at a time.
00:26We were very close, we were mother and daughter,
00:30sisters, best friends, confidants.
00:35And in the last few years, we were everything.
00:38There is a huge void and you miss it every day.
00:44And you learn to live with that void.
00:46With the death of my mom, I realized that life is very short.
00:50And I'm proving it.
00:52When I left Despierta América, I missed television.
00:57I missed it a lot.
00:59I felt that I hadn't finished my mission in television yet,
01:05or at least in the morning programs.
01:08They gave me a second chance on a new day.
01:12And I entered with the conviction that this was going to end at any moment.
01:18So what did I do?
01:20I saved money and I enjoyed it day by day.
01:25I see that it is more difficult to be on television every day.
01:29They demand more every day.
01:32And the truth is, I don't really feel like going back.
01:36I tell you, going back from time to time,
01:38say hello, shake hands,
01:40and you do feel that very special emotion.
01:43However, I no longer feel that need that I felt before.
01:49If they invite me, I go.
01:51With pleasure, as long as they want.
01:53I'm happy with life.
01:55But I no longer feel that need that if I'm not there, something is missing.
02:00I am no longer so connected with what the morning programs are.
02:05But obviously I have learned about all the changes that have happened in Telemundo,
02:10the cuts in Univision.
02:13What were the most difficult years for you?
02:16They were very difficult years,
02:19where I think I got the biggest lesson of my life,
02:24which was to live the last months of my mom,
02:29accompanying her, learning about her illness,
02:33learning what it was like to take care of a human being,
02:37to comfort her, to try to comfort her,
02:40a person who is suffering with pain or fear,
02:44because I already knew that the outcome was going to be very fast,
02:49or maybe it wasn't going to be that fast,
02:51but I was going to leave her motionless at any time.
02:56So we learned to live one day at a time.
02:59I learned how important life is.
03:03It's not the money you have, the jewels you have.
03:08The important thing is the laughs, the moments, the experiences.
03:15Because, well, talking to my mom those last few weeks,
03:20it was more than anything,
03:21hey, look how beautiful, they remember me with so much love.
03:25I was very excited because there were a lot of people who loved her.
03:32She didn't remember the luxuries, she didn't remember if she had jewels,
03:36she didn't remember if she had clothes she didn't use in the closet.
03:41And in the end, you don't take anything with you to the grave.
03:46The only thing you take with you are your good deeds,
03:51the love of people, those strong learnings.
03:56But more than anything, you take what you left to others.
04:00So that made me very, very beautiful.
04:03So I tell you, in the midst of how difficult it was,
04:06because it was very difficult, really,
04:09I say, don't compare, but I understand very well all those people
04:16who take care of their sick parents, their grandmother,
04:23the sick people in the house.
04:25It's not easy, it's not easy.
04:27So, well, it left me a lot of wealth.
04:30And I think that everything that had happened on television with me
04:35in the previous years,
04:37everything had triggered this to happen.
04:41She and I were very united by our very, very unique story.
04:46We were very united.
04:49We were mother and daughter, sisters, best friends, confidants.
04:57And in the last few years, we were everything.
05:00I mean, as we also had part of the pandemic,
05:03I had to be with her 24-7, attend to her 24-7.
05:08So when she needs it, a part of me understands it,
05:13that she is no longer suffering, that she is free,
05:15that death does not end when we die here, right?
05:20But there is another chapter that begins.
05:25Well, that's what I want to think, right?
05:28But there is still a very huge emptiness,
05:33and she misses it every day.
05:36And you learn to live with that emptiness,
05:38and you learn, perhaps, to communicate in another way.
05:42Not physically anymore,
05:45but you know that at some point that person is very close to you.
05:50That energy, that affection is still there.
05:53But it is very difficult, you say.
05:55What I highly recommend to people who are taking care of
06:00or have a sick person at home,
06:04is that they do not move away,
06:06that they try to spend most of their time with them,
06:11that they cuddle them, that they enjoy them,
06:14that they live one day at a time,
06:16as if that were to be the last day of their lives,
06:19and take advantage of it.
06:21That is, not in a bad mood, not to live an anticipated mourning,
06:24but to live with all the joys that can be at that moment.
06:32My whole family lives here,
06:34and then, in an economic matter,
06:37the house is already paid,
06:40also Miami, where I lived, is already paid.
06:43So I chose to have this house as a base,
06:48San Antonio as a base,
06:50and to be able to move to Miami, Los Angeles, Mexico.
06:54I entered a very cool, very beautiful stage,
06:58which is starting to travel,
07:01starting to get to know,
07:03maybe starting to do gardening,
07:06cooking a little more,
07:09doing things that I had not been able to do
07:12because I spent more than 20 years in front of cameras.
07:16In total, it was about 25 years at the network level.
07:20And before that, I had another story.
07:23I had also gone through it.
07:25I have worked since I was a child.
07:28So I wanted to take a break,
07:33and I do projects here and there,
07:36a project here, a project there,
07:38but nothing that is binding me,
07:41because I want to continue knowing the world,
07:44I want to visit all my family members
07:47from everywhere, wherever they are.
07:49It is very nice for me
07:51not to have anything that binds me anywhere.
07:55With my mother's death,
07:57I realized that life is very short,
07:59and I am proving it.
08:02The older you get, the faster time goes by,
08:05like water in your hands.
08:08My brother Mauricio used to tell me,
08:12but hey, we are already halfway through the year,
08:15we are almost halfway through the year,
08:17how did it go so fast?
08:19And if we neglect,
08:21we stop doing the things
08:23that we always dreamed of doing,
08:25that when we said,
08:28when I can, I'm going to travel,
08:31and we always put it in the future,
08:33but sometimes that future,
08:35if you don't put a plan into action,
08:37it will never come.
08:39So there is nothing wrong with
08:41lowering your work,
08:43even if you don't perceive
08:45the same amount of money,
08:47but you are living to the maximum,
08:49to your own time.
08:53And well, that's the important thing,
08:55it's no longer how much money you are making,
08:57but what you are doing with your life,
08:59how you are enjoying it.
09:01And I think that as we get older,
09:04we have less time.
09:07Something very interesting happened to me,
09:11when I left Despierta América,
09:13I really missed television,
09:15I missed it a lot,
09:17I felt that I had not yet finished
09:21my mission within television,
09:23or at least within early programs.
09:26They give me a second chance
09:28on a new day,
09:30and there I entered with the conviction
09:34that this was going to end at any moment.
09:37So what did I do?
09:39I saved, hey my dog,
09:41I saved money,
09:43and I enjoyed it day by day.
09:46I mean, again,
09:48as if tomorrow was going to end,
09:50I enjoyed it to the maximum.
09:52I went to all the galas,
09:54I went to all the presentations,
09:56I danced, I run,
09:58I did my best job,
10:00but aware that this was going to end.
10:03So when the end came,
10:05I ended it with a lot of joy and pleasure,
10:09understanding that it was time
10:11to start another stage.
10:13I think I would go back to television,
10:15maybe in some other way,
10:19it would be cool.
10:21Now I am very happy that through social media
10:23we can be in contact with people,
10:26that we can have that beautiful
10:28and cool connection.
10:31And I think that today
10:33television is still very important.
10:36However,
10:38this way of being able to enter
10:40people's homes,
10:42being in such close contact,
10:44that helps a lot.
10:46I see that
10:48every day it is more difficult
10:50to be on television,
10:52every day they are demanded more,
10:54and the truth is
10:56I don't really feel like going back.
10:59I tell you, going back once in a while,
11:01saying hello,
11:03and if you still feel that very special emotion,
11:05however,
11:07I no longer feel
11:09that need
11:11that I felt before.
11:13I tell you, if they invite me,
11:15I go with pleasure,
11:17as long as they want,
11:19I am happy with life,
11:21but I no longer feel that need
11:23that if I am not there,
11:25something is missing.
11:27Do you know what I would lie to you?
11:29I hardly see them anymore.
11:31I hardly see them anymore.
11:33I find out about the most outstanding news
11:35through YouTube,
11:37or if there is something
11:39interesting that they are going to criticize
11:41about fashion, etc.
11:43Then I come to see Despierta América,
11:45or Un Nuevo Día,
11:47but I am no longer so connected
11:49with what the morning news is.
11:51But well,
11:53obviously I have found out about all the changes
11:55that have happened in Telemundo,
11:57the Univision cuts,
11:59and well,
12:01I admire you very much,
12:03keep going.
12:05In both programs,
12:07I have a lot of friends
12:09that I love very much,
12:11people that I admire and that I love.
12:13So I wish
12:15that they keep working hard
12:17and that there is still work for everyone.
12:19Well, I want to thank
12:21the people,
12:23because despite the fact that
12:25it has been five years
12:27that I have been out of the national screen,
12:29people
12:31still greet me with a lot of love,
12:33they still remember me
12:35with a lot of love,
12:37and I am very happy.
12:39Every time I see them on the street,
12:41every time they smile at me,
12:43every time they tell me that they miss me
12:45on TV,
12:47and they give me
12:49such a beautiful hug.
12:51I want to thank
12:53all those people
12:55that continue to keep me in their hearts.
12:57That means that we did something good
12:59and that, well,
13:01I feel very proud of everything that we achieved,
13:03the team of Despierta América
13:05and the team of Un Nuevo Día.
13:07And to my colleagues who are still
13:09working, I admire them,
13:11I love them, and from time to time
13:13I send them greetings,
13:15of course, me lying down and you working.
