00:00Well, we saw disgraceful scenes of criminal violence and thuggery
00:05in some of our towns and cities.
00:08It's a total disgrace and there has to be a reckoning.
00:12Those individuals who are involved in the disorder
00:15need to know that they will pay a price.
00:18There have already been hundreds of arrests
00:20and we have made very clear to the police
00:23they have our full support in pursuing the full range
00:27of prosecutions and penalties,
00:29including serious prison sentences,
00:32long-term tagging, travel bans and more.
00:36I think these people do not speak for Britain,
00:39for communities across Britain.
00:41People who speak for Britain are the people who've been out
00:43in our communities clearing up the damage that's been done
00:47across the communities and I think it's a disgrace what we've seen.
00:51When you say there'll be a reckoning for those involved,
00:54I think there's been over 400 arrests thus far.
00:57Are you expecting or hoping that anybody that even showed up
01:00on the fringes of one of these gatherings will ultimately be arrested
01:03or talking about those that are perpetrating the worst acts
01:08within the groups?
01:09Well, I've made clear to the police they have my full support
01:12in going after the full range of offenders,
01:16from those who turned up at the last minute and joined in the looting
01:20to some of the most serious offenders who were pursuing
01:23really dangerous arson, really dangerous damage
01:27and criminal violence, because we simply cannot stand for this.
01:31So we should be clear, there will be people who were thinking
01:34they were going on their summer holidays this week and instead
01:37they will face a knock on the door from the police,
01:39they will face arrest and a prison cell, a police cell,
01:43while they wait for trial in order to make sure that they do pay
01:46the price for what they have done.
