00:00So, Kelty, you have had a wonderful career in the media, but it wasn't without trials

00:07and tribulations, right?

00:08You know what it's like to be on that stage.

00:11What advice would you have to these women who might not be walking away the winner,

00:14but to trust the process?

00:16I think that rejection is your redirection.

00:20I failed miserably so many times at so many things, and that's what made me stronger,

00:25so that when I did get the big break, I was really ready for it.

00:30But the truth is, is that it never stops being sort of a rollercoaster.

00:34So I know we're here tonight, and I'm like, I'm all dressed up.

00:36I got my hair extensions in.

00:38I'm 100%.

00:39But the truth is, just last week, I lost out on something I wanted.

00:42So there never is a mountain or a hill that you hit, and then you're done, and you've

00:47made it.

00:48So it's just this constant grind.

00:49And what I told the girls on stage at rehearsal tonight, I just said, listen, it has to be

00:54one of you.

00:55You got to do the work tonight, and like, why not me is my mantra.

01:00Like someone has to be Miss USA tonight.

01:02Why not me?

01:03Go through the competition thinking, it's mine, I deserve this.

01:06And if it doesn't go your way, it'll work out in some other way.

01:10One more question for you.

01:11How does this hosting gig compare to something like E! News?

01:14Would you say this is the fun job, or is that the fun job?

01:17I mean, they're all great jobs.

01:19I just was with Mariah Carey last week in Las Vegas interviewing her, which is like

01:23a dream come true job for E! News.

01:26Hosting E! News is so fun, but that's my family, right?

01:28Like I know how to do that.

01:30This is live television.

01:31People from around the country are watching, millions of people.

01:34There's a lot of pressure, and I'm doing four costume changes within the show.

01:38So there's a little bit more pressure, but honestly, I love live TV.

01:41I love how excited everyone is to be here.

01:44The fact that someone like you is here, like this is just so exciting, and we're thrilled.

01:48All right, we got to see your crowning moment.

01:50Pretend the crown is on your head.

01:52You just won.

01:53Crown, fall, trip, and I'm out.

01:55Oh, that's not going to happen to me.

01:57I'm very clumsy.

01:58Thank God no one's going to try to put the crown on me, but actually, Patrick has a crown
