00:00Switching gears now to the other side, you know, after the assassination attempt, we've
00:04been getting groundbreaking news from both parties, President Biden stepping down from
00:09his own campaign.
00:10I know you've been a supporter of President Biden and allowing him to make his own decisions
00:14on his own timeline.
00:15So what do you say to the people calling on President Biden to resign and making the argument
00:19that if he's not fit to run, he's no longer fit to serve?
00:22I just think they're two very different skills.
00:24To run for president requires traversing the country, going from one battleground state
00:28to another battleground state.
00:30It requires extraordinary physical stamina.
00:33I think to be president requires good judgment, and the president has shown that he's done
00:38the job.
00:39He stood up to Putin in Ukraine.
00:41He's helped pass landmark legislation.
00:46He's working to try to bring peace in the Middle East.
00:49So I have seen no signs that he's incapable of doing the job.
00:55There are a few priorities that he is wanting to push forward in his remaining months in
01:00office, including Supreme Court reform.
01:03So I'm wondering what you make of his new plan that he has just recently unveiled.
01:07It's common sense.
01:08Joe Kennedy and I introduced this bill in 2020 before the Dobbs decision saying Supreme
01:14Court justice should serve 18 years.
01:17You shouldn't be on this court for 40, 50 years.
01:19That was not what the founders wanted.
01:21You can be a judge for life, but not on the Supreme Court for life.
01:25And these justices should not be politicized.
01:29Every president should get two appointments, 18 years.
01:32It would take the politics out of the court and it would restore people's trust in the
01:36court.
01:37I'm glad the president is proposing this.
01:39It's overwhelmingly popular with Democrats, independents and Republicans.
01:43And I hope we can start to get it passed.
01:45Why 18 years?
01:47Well, it's convenient with nine Supreme Court justices.
01:52If you're getting a every president having two appointments, a term, the math works out.
01:59And then how about his proposal on presidential immunity?
02:02What do you make of that as well?
02:03Well, that also is common sense.
02:04Look, if I if someone gave me a million bucks and said, vote this way, I would get prosecuted
02:09if I took that money.
02:11Robert Menendez was prosecuted for bribery.
02:14The president should have the same conditions.
02:16You shouldn't be able to go to the president and say, OK, I'm going to give you a million
02:19bucks to veto this.
02:20And then people say, oh, the president's immune.
02:22Of course not.
02:23I mean, it's common sense.
02:24Everyone should be to have the accountability of the law.
02:29Is there anything else you would like to see President Biden do in his remaining months
02:32in office?
02:33I'd like him to continue to focus on the places that were deindustrialized, to continue to
02:39bring smart manufacturing, advanced manufacturing back, to continue to focus on the working
02:44class, to say very simply, if you work in America, you shouldn't be poor.
02:49You should have a living wage.
02:51You should be able to afford a house.
02:52You should be able to have a good paying job and pride and dignity.
02:56And those values which he's lived in Scranton, Pennsylvania and Delaware, I want him to continue
03:02to fight for them in around this country.
